We are home. Our vacation was absolutely wonderful! ❤️ we made it home early evening last night before the storms. In fact, we were in the basement last night for about 20 minutes while the sirens were alerting us! 🥴

Mitch, Dani and Ellie drove us to the airport and we flew into Fort Lauderdale on Easter (after church). On Monday we boarded the Celebrity Reflection for our first ocean cruise! 😁 the process was so easy! The staff were so helpful as we didn’t have a clue what we were supposed to do. 🙄 our stateroom was very nice, we were on deck 11 and we had a balcony! ❤️ there was always something g to do on board! The crew were so well trained for their job and we were so pampered! ❤️ we went to most of the shows which were fantastic!! We enjoyed some of the events they had organized, the silent disco was so much fun to watch! 🤪 the 80’s music contest was a blast!! 😜 the food was fabulous! ❤️ we did the all access tour of the behind the scenes of the ship which included the engineer room and the bridge! Unfortunately I wasn’t allowed to drive the boat…🙃

We spent a wonderful day in Key West, walked way too much and had lunch at one of our favourite restaurants! ❤️ we were supposed to spend a day at Cococay, their private island but we had some pretty bad storms the night before and we weren’t able to dock at the pier because the swells were washing over the pier/walk way and it wasn’t safe. 🥺 we watched the storm from the restaurant and then from our balcony. Seriously, you hardly knew there were 8’–10’ swells. The lightening was fun to watch! 😊

We walked a lot. I read an entire book this vacation which so nice to just relax and enjoy a novel! ❤️

When the cruise was over, we rented a car and drove up to Melbourne for a couple of days. We took the scenic route wand made a few detours to check stuff out! ❤️

Our hotel was right on the beach so we walked the beach, laid by the pool, enjoyed the hot tub and then headed up the A1A for the scenic route to Orlando! ❤️ we drove right past Patrick Space Force Base who were hosting the Blue Angels as the Cocoa Beach Air Show was this past weekend! ❤️ so, we parked at Hangers Beach to watch the planes! 😁 a dead sea turtle washed up on the beach which caused quite the commotion.

We also stopped at the piece of property we have in Port St. John as they have built a gas station right next to our property. Guess what??? We actually own several palm trees!! The real ones!!! ❤️❤️❤️

We made it to Orlando and went to the City Walk at Universal. We had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe before Kenny’s concert. We really enjoyed the concert!!! It was at the Hard Rock Live venue, it was very nice but the chairs were so close together you felt like you were sitting on each others laps. 🥺

We had a quiet day Monday. Went to a fabulous Thai restaurant for dinner! ❤️ we played mini golf, (I won!) and fed the alligators (they were toddlers). We had to return our rental car early Tuesday before flying out so we had breakfast at the airport. 😊 our flight home was uneventful and we even arrived 15 minutes early! 😊 Alex picked us up, we had a quiet dinner and I got the laundry done and we hung out in the basement for 20 minutes because of the storm! 🥴 we were up at 5 this morning thinking about work. 🙄

We intended to unplug this vacation and for the most part we did. I had a few things come up that needed my immediate attention but Donavin and Susan took care of everything! ❤️

I was shocked and so sad to receive the call about Todd’s passing. I wish we had been able to get home in time for his funeral but it wasn’t possible. My prayers are with the whole Ingersoll family. I’m so sorry for your loss. 💔

We had such a lovely day at the Milwaukee Zoo! The weather was perfect and it wasn’t crowded at all yet, there were school groups and lots of Moms w/toddlers enjoying the day too! ❤️ quite a few of the animals also played hooky today too and didn’t come out to play and the giraffe, elephant, goats were closed today. We could not walk up the ramp to the giraffes, go into the elephants building or visit with the goats (they weren’t allowed out). But, we still had a fabulous day!! ❤️

We have completed our latest project! ❤️ we had our new fireplace installed last March, it’s wonderful! We absolutely love it! We built the new mantel last spring. Today we finally completed the final piece…the tile surround!!! 😎 it took 5 days to complete (we started Thursday) and finally completed it about half an hour ago! 😁 we will put another coat of sealer on it once the grout has dried. 😉

We have had the best time! Our quick getaway long weekend was just what we needed to recharge our batteries! 😎 the past few months have been hectic to say the least! 🙃

Friday, we took a horse drawn taxi up to The Grand Hotel. We had a fun walk around the hotel and then…we had the infamous Grand Hotel brunch!! 😁 Wow!! It was spectacular!! We couldn’t eat another thing the rest of the day!!! 😎 we then had a ride in the Grand Hotel taxi which was very posh! I did get told off for petting the horses, but it was worth it!! 😇

We took the ferry back to St. Ignace and headed up to see the Soo Locks! We saw 3 of our Great Lakes in one day! Lake Huron, Lake Superior and Lake Michigan! We had debated going across the border to Canada but it was already 5:00pm and we still needed to get to our next destination. We did bring our passports just in case we did cross the border.😊

We headed back down towards Hwy 2 and drove along Lake Michigan which was beautiful scenery! I was hoping we’d see a bear, a deer, elk maybe? Nothing, not even a racoon, or even a fish in the water! We saw birds (Sandhill Cranes and turkey vultures) and a dead fox on the road. We were the only car on the road for many miles too! 🙄

We weren’t able to stay in Escanaba so we drove onto Marinette and spent the night there! 🥱 we decided to head home from there but stopped in Port Washington and walked along the harbour and had lunch at the Lions Fest at Veterans Park and listened to some live music! 😊

Today we drove the scenic route to St. Ignace and then the ferry to Macinac Island. I would love to show you pics of the view from that 5 mile long bridge but I can’t. 🙄 I can’t take pictures with my eyes closed tightly shut with and my hand over my eyes and the other hand white knuckling the door handle. 🥴There was road work on the bridge and it was down to one lane and there were delays. I thought I was going to have a heart attack so I closed my eyes. Fortunately we made it across safe and sound and Peter loved it! 🥴 the bridge is 5 miles long. 5 MILES. It seemed to take forever! 😜

Macinac Island reminds us a bit of Galena, Il. It’s lovely, very picturesque and the weather today was so perfect!! ❤️ we walked to the Grand Hotel along the lakeshore to watch the sunset. We will go to the hotel tomorrow. ❤️❤️❤️ i cant wait!!! I read the book Somewhere in Time when i was a teenager and then they made the movie!! It was one of my fave stories and I’m right here. This was a bucket list item for me. ❤️

We are stsying at the Murray Hotel and our room is gorgeous! We have done a ton of dteps today even with all the driving! We will head back to the mainland tomorrow! 😎

We began a new adventure today in an effort to “unplug” from work for a few days. We drove up to Manitowoc and boarded the ferry to Ludington. That was such a cool experience!! The S.S. Badger: Lake Michigan Carferry provided us with a wonderful excursion even in the rain! ❤️ We met a lovely lady, Sister Adainanna who is now retired after a long career as a teacher and high school principal. Turns out, she worked with our Abby’s grandpas brother Ray for many years! It’s such a small world.

We embarked and our Jeep was waiting on the deck for us already! We started the next leg of our trip to Traverse City. We drove through a State Forest that was just a stunning drive. So beautiful! ❤️ We stopped for a a quick trip to the loo and discovered a gorgeous sunset over a lake. After a day of rain the sky was spectacular! We made it to our first destination while it was still light out and then had to find a place still open to eat. We are now settling in for the night and start fresh tomorrow! ❤️

Last night we took the dinner sunset cruise on the Perdido Queen in Mobile. ❤️ We went to see the S.S. United States as she is being prepared to be sunk off Destin beach and become a reef. She must have been glorious in her day! You can still see her elegant lines. 😁

Many years ago i had an online magazine called S.S. (Stamping & Scrapping) Reflections (some of my friends were part if it!) the concept was a golden era cruise ship traveling around the world and each month we stopped in a country that would be our theme for the month. We had a celebrity headliner, a design challenge and each floor of the virtual ship was a craft theme with our professional designers writing an article and sharing their designs which you could pop up and see a larger view of the design that had the supply list and instructions on how to make it. We had a ships photographer, who shared tips each month, a digital deck, scrapping deck, stamping deck, mixed media deck, and our archives were in the engine room in the depths of the ship. We did a new issue each month for 7 years!!! We avg. 600,000-800,000 page requests a month. This was from 2003-2010! Seeing this beautiful cruise ship brought all of these memories back for me. The friendships from that period of time have been lasting and very special! This couldn’t have happened without them!! ❤️

We decided to cut our trip to Nashville short and just head down to the beach a day early. We are so glad we did! We were greeted upon arrival with a beautiful golden sunset and woke up to the wave coming ashore. We slept with the balcony door open. ❤️ driving thru Alabama was brutal with many traffic delays that added 3 hours to our trip. But, as soon as we arrived we knew it was worth it! 😉😎

I was going to wait to share our latest project until it was completed but that means I can’t show you my Christmas decorations! So, here it is…we had all new floors installed! We took the hot tub out and needed to put a new floor so we felt we should just do it all while we were at it as we still had the space from the peninsula counter we removed that needed to be fixed. When the flooring guys took out the carpet they were amazed at how well it had stood the rest of time! It was in great shape and we want to create a multi purpose room downstairs eventually so they measured the area and cut a nice piece for us! They rolled it up and took it downstairs! They were awesome and I highly recommend Fell’s Flooring! They have been so great to work with! The new floors are just beautiful!! We are planning to paint the walls and we are putting in white trim and painting over the windows and doors with white so, the job isn’t completed by any stretch of the imagination but we are loving the new look as it develops! We did the hallway to the bedrooms, the laundry room, hot tub room (now named the sun room), the living room, dining room, kitchen, back hallway and the back loo! It has just opened up the space and looks so much bigger!

We headed up to Door Coonty for the weekend. After checking in last night at the lodge we went to Thyme for dinner. It was a bit of a wait for our table but they had live music and fire pits, wool blankets and patio heaters at their outdoor bar 12/11. It was nice for awhile then we decided we’d just go and wait inside at the restaurant which worked as our table was ready in just a few minutes! The food was fabulous, the noise level was a bit too much but there were several parties and they were having such fun! 😎 we just didn’t stay for dessert, we’d had enough by then!! 😉

Today we took the car ferry to Washington Island! ❤️ it was a perfect day and we just drove all the rustic roads. It was so pretty!! So, peaceful! 🙃 the water on Lake Michigan was calm and such a deep blue! It was truly a lovely day! We stopped at the Albatross drive in for a late lunch and had the best burgers!! 😁 then headed back to the mainland! It has been a glorious day! 😃 I even walked on the sand at the sand dune park. My knee did okay! I brought my ice bag with me which was a great idea. 😉 I’m resting now in the recliner with my trusty ice bag on my knee. 👍

We decided to get away yesterday and “unplug” for the day. We were trying to decide on a location and ended up in Galena, IL. It was a beautiful day and we did a fair bit of walking. 😎 When my knees had enough we went back to our comfortable and cool car and drove around Galena a bit then headed to Dubuque, IA.

Dubuque is just a lovely city! We went to the Mississippi River museum and Aquarium which was really cool! 😁 we toured the dredger and we were allowed to pet the stingrays! 🙃 We then drove to the Fenalon Place Elevator and enjoyed the view! 😁 (me from the safe place next to the building while my daredevil husband stood at the edge of the observation deck. 🤪)

The funniest thing happened next…after we did a search for a restaurant for dinner, we found a great little burger place. We were standing by the door waiting for a table and in walks one of my board members (Carlo) with his family! 😃 it’s such a small world! ❤️

We did pack a bag in case we decided to find a hotel but decided to come home. 😉 It was such a pretty drive there and we enjoyed such beautiful scenery! The sunset was behind us on the way home but it was glorious! ❤️

We had a lovely day!! It was a fabulous adventure! ❤️
