A poem by Bandit: (me)

River run, river flow,
Trickling, bubbling, always on the go.
Fish swim, crayfish crawl,
In the river, a feast for one and all.
With my bandit mask and clever paws,
I dip and dive, in search of claws.
A tasty morsel, a sweet delight,
The river provides, a true raccoon's delight.
Under the moon, in the still of night,
The river calls, a raccoon's flight.
With a splash and a dash, I'm off to explore,
The river's secrets, forevermore.

River flows, a glistening sight,
Reflecting stars, in the city's night.
As I scurry, along the shore,
Trash cans tip, with treasures galore.
A plastic cap, a tin foil feast,
Half-eaten bread, a raccoon's retreat.
Amidst the river's gentle sway,
Trash turned treasures, a raccoon's buffet.
Under the moon, a stealthy prowl,
In search of treats, a raccoon's growl.
While the river whispers tales,
Trash brings the riches, of raccoon entrails.

River wild, river free,
A raccoon's life, full of glee.
No walls, no cage, just endless space,
To roam and thrive, in the river's embrace.
I fish and forage, with cunning skill,
My raccoon life, a true free will.
Under the stars, a river's song,
A raccoon's spirit, forever strong.
The city's hum, a distant beat,
My river home, a wild retreat.
With trees and sky, and endless nights,
A raccoon's freedom, a wondrous sight.

River wild, city tame,
A raccoon thrives, a pet's claim to fame.
Paw to paw, a different track,
A raccoon adapts, a pet falls back.
I forage and hunt, a natural knack,
While pets rely, on their human's pack.
In the river's flow, I splash and swim,
House pets stay dry, with fur so trim.
Through storms and strife, a raccoon prevails,
House pets retreat, as nature travails.
With cunning wit, and a coat so sleek,
A raccoon survives, in the river so meek.
So let us roam, in nature's way,
While house pets lounge, in the human's sway.

Walls of concrete, cages of steel,
A shelter stands, a somber appeal.
Within its grasp, a world contained,
Furry friends, their lives restrained.
House pets yearn, for a loving home,
In the shelter's grip, they quietly moan.
The river calls, a raccoon's domain,
But in this place, freedom's bane.
Yet hope persists, in volunteers' eyes,
A chance for pets, to win the prize.
Adoption day, a joyous sound,
As house pets find, their lost-found.
For raccoons like me, the river sings,
A wild abode, where freedom rings.
But for those within, the shelter's care,
May they find love, in a home to share.

Meet Bandit, our little raccoon friend. He has a big story to tell, "Normandy: A little town in the middle of big change. With even bigger characters. Characters that are already VERY familiar."

A tail, by Bandit

If a raccoon were to tell a story of freewill, it might go something like this:
Once upon a time, there was a raccoon named Bandit who lived by a beautiful river in Normandy. Bandit was free to roam wherever he pleased, exploring the riverbank, climbing trees, and playing in the water.

One day, Bandit came across a group of other animals who were living in cages. They were sad and lonely, yearning to be free. Bandit felt sorry for them and decided to help.

Using his clever paws and raccoon smarts, Bandit opened the cages and set the animals free. Together, they ran and played, rejoicing in their newfound freedom.
Bandit learned that day that everyone deserves to be free and that sometimes, all it takes is a little raccoon ingenuity to make that freedom a reality.

Bandit didnโ€™t know that their yearning to be free came with a price. They had escaped their cages but found that freedom didn't always guarantee sustenance.

Bandit felt sorry for the sad and lonely animals, that were even more lonely than they had been when they were locked up.

Feeling responsible, Bandit shared his food and taught the animals how to forage and hunt. Bandit had always taken pride in his resourcefulness, able to find food even when it seemed scarce. However, they weren't good at finding food, and as winter approached and food became scarce and the animals grew weak. After helping the group of animals escape from their cages, they were going to starve.

Despite Bandit's efforts, the harsh reality of nature took its toll. Some animals perished, leaving Bandit and the others grieving their loss. While others tried to find their way back to the safety of their cages.

Bandit realized that while freedom was precious, it also came with challenges. He vowed to continue sharing his knowledge and resources, but they were falling short and he worried he may be next.

Bandit began to question what the definition of freedom really meant. Could he have been wrong?
