✈️ A GLIMPSE OF WHAT’S NEXT IN AVIATION — RIGHT HERE AT PHF !

Electra’s EL-2 Ultra Short hybrid-electric aircraft takes to the skies at Newport News/Williamsburg Airport during a special flight demonstration and static display.

PHF was proud to welcome Electra’s EL-2 Ultra Short hybrid-electric aircraft for a special flight demonstration and static display, showcasing a new approach to regional air travel. Imagine requiring less than a football field to take off and land! The demonstration was a glimpse at how innovative aircraft technology will transform the way communities connect.
The future of aviation isn’t just something we’re talking about. We’re watching it take PHFlight !

This morning, PHF was proud to have our corporate tenant Airborne Tactical Advantage Company (ATAC: www.atacusa.com) join us for a FOD (Foreign Object Debris) removal walk as we prepared for an exciting milestone.

After 53 days of closure, Runway 7/25 will reopen this afternoon—about a week earlier than originally planned as part of the Taxiway D Rehabilitation Program.

This achievement reflects the collaboration, planning, and hard work of everyone involved in the Taxiway D Rehabilitation Program, especially our construction parter, ACM, Inc.

Thank you to everyone whose dedication helped make this milestone possible. We look forward to welcoming aircraft back to Runway 7/25 and continuing to serve our community.

This National Police Week, Newport News/Williamsburg Airport Police Department proudly recognizes and honors the dedicated men and women who serve and protect our airport community every day. Their commitment goes far beyond law enforcement — they are first responders, problem solvers, and a constant source of safety and reassurance for passengers, tenants, and staff alike. Whether responding to emergencies, assisting travelers, or working behind the scenes to keep operations secure, their professionalism and dedication never go unnoticed. We also pause to remember and honor the officers across the nation who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Today is International Firefighters’ Day.

Today, we pause to remember the firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty and we honor those who continue to serve with courage, strength, and quiet dedication.

At our airport, they spend countless hours training, sharpening their skills, maintaining equipment, and pushing themselves physically and mentally so they are always prepared when it matters most.

Here at Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport, we are incredibly grateful for our Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) team. Your commitment, professionalism, and readiness do not go unnoticed.

We appreciate you every day, not just today. ❤️
