This past weekend, we hosted The Grand 1894 Opera House on their 24th Broadway Adventure with V.I.P. Tours in New York City.

We began the weekend with a Welcome Dinner at Butter, joined by our Guest of Honor, Leonardo Reyna. As the pianist for the original Buena Vista Social Club band—recognized with a Special Tony Award—and the performer who originated the role of Young Rubén in the Broadway production, Leonardo shared the story of his journey to opening night and what it meant to bring that music and legacy to the stage.

A highlight of the program was our visit to the landmarked 1903 Hudson Theatre, led by Tim Dolan, founder of Broadway Up Close—whose tours feel like a one-man theatrical performance in themselves—alongside our own Joe Rosenberg, who played a key role in preserving the theater’s landmark status.

We concluded with our Entertainment & Discussion Salon, an intimate conversation with Broadway artists Ellie Fishman (Ragtime), Ben Crawford (The Lost Boys), and Telly Leung (Masquerade), accompanied by Paul Loesel (Wicked). In this setting, the performers shared personal stories from their journeys to Broadway—from a broken pants spell while playing the Phantom of the Opera, to performing both Cinderella and her stepsister in the same night, to losing a wig, eyelashes, and everything else mid-number as Angel in Rent.

We are already planning a very special celebration for next year's 25th trip! We can't wait to have you back!
