This serene backyard oasis in the Marigny that was revived after the devastation of hurricane Ida features a deck with a Pergola, a 19th century bathtub fish pond, cozy seating and gentle lighting that sets the stage for memorable gatherings, live music or for just a moment of tranquility amidst the lush greenery.

If you feel inspired by the beauty and would like to transform your own outdoor space, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Simply email me at [email protected], and I'll be delighted to discuss your gardening needs. Rest assured, all my practices are eco-conscious and strive for carbon neutrality, utilizing electric tools and environmentally friendly bike transportation.

I posted recently about how terrible crepe murder is.

We are entering the end of the time for dormant season pruning. Remember to consider thinning crape myrtles instead of topping crape myrtles. A thinned crape myrtle compared to a topped crape myrtle will have:

• Stronger Wood
• More Flowers
• Larger Flowers
• More Pollinating Insects
• Enhanced Bark Features
• Fewer Watersprouts
• Fewer Suckers
• More Birds Nesting
• Less Fungal Decay in Wood
• Fewer Insects and Sooty Mold
• Less Leaf Spot
• More Canopy Air Circulation

With its smooth, muscular trunks, peeling bark, structure of leafless branches in the winter and exceptionally long blooming season in summer, the crape myrtle is rightfully popular here. Make sure you keep them looking their best.
