I finally made it to Buscalan, home of the legendary Apo Whang-Od, famous for preserving the traditional Kalinga tattooing technique known as batok.

Instead of a modern tattoo machine, this ancient method uses hand-tapping techniques that have been passed down through generations.

The journey alone was an adventure, but getting to experience the culture and see this tradition up close made every hour of traveling worth it.
