We are open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm. Closed on weekends and Holidays.

Today, we celebrate 45 years of serving our community! When New Castle Transit first began on September 28, 1981, we were known as New Castle on Wheels (NOW), and many people still affectionately call us the “NOW Bus.”

We want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to everyone who has ridden with us, supported us, and been a part of our journey over the past 45 years. ❤️

It has been an honor to serve the New Castle community, and we look forward to continuing to serve you for many years to come!

Just a reminder that we are closed today in observance of the Fourth of July. Recycling services will also be closed, as the gates will remain closed for the holiday 🇺🇸

Here are some fun facts about Independence Day:

• Independence Day celebrates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.

• The Declaration of Independence was primarily written by Thomas Jefferson.

• The Liberty Bell in Philadelphia is tapped 13 times every Fourth of July in honor of the original 13 colonies.

• Americans consume an estimated 150 million hot dogs 🌭 on the Fourth of July each year 😳

• Fireworks have been part of Independence Day celebrations since 1777.

• Three U.S. presidents — John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Monroe — all died on July 4.

• The colors of the American flag symbolize:
Red: valor and bravery
White: purity and innocence
Blue: vigilance, perseverance, and justice

• The first organized Independence Day celebration at the White House took place in 1801.

Just a reminder that our office and Recycling services are closed today in observance of Juneteenth.

As promised, here are a few facts about Juneteenth:

• Juneteenth is celebrated each year on June 19 and commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.

• The holiday marks June 19, 1865, when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and informed enslaved African Americans that they were free — more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.

• The name “Juneteenth” is a combination of the words “June” and “nineteenth.”

• The Emancipation Proclamation was signed by Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863.

• Juneteenth became a federal holiday in the United States in 2021, making it the first new federal holiday established since Martin Luther King Jr. Day in 1983.

• Traditional Juneteenth celebrations often include music, community gatherings, educational events, storytelling, and family cookouts.

• Red foods and drinks are commonly associated with Juneteenth and symbolize resilience, strength, and sacrifice.

• Texas was the first state to officially recognize Juneteenth as a state holiday in 1980.

• Juneteenth is also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, and Emancipation Day.
