Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Mark Bingham lived in San Francisco, California, and traveled often to New York City. He owned The Bingham Group, a public relations firm with offices in both cities. A rugby player, Mark helped establish teams open to people of color, women, and gay men. On 9/11, Mark boarded Flight 93 en route to San Francisco to attend a fraternity brother’s wedding. He and others on the plane devised a plan to overpower the terrorists, likely saving the lives of many on the ground. Mark was 31 years old.

[para español👇] Today marks the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Come together in remembrance at the 9/11 Memorial Garden in Downtown Napa today from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. for a memorial service hosted by Napa Sunrise Rotary. Former Napa County Supervisor Brad Wagenknecht will speak during the service.

Additionally, the Napa Fire Department’s Honor Guard will be at the 9/11 Memorial on Monday to stand watch and ring the bell at the time each WTC tower fell.

The Napa 9/11 Memorial was installed on September 11, 2013. Located on Main Street, on a city-owned spot along the south bank of Napa Creek, this Memorial is a monument attesting the triumph of human dignity and affirming our unwavering commitment to community and nation. It recognizes everyone who survived; all those who demonstrated compassion and courage in the aftermath; and honors the victims of terrorism and all who risk their lives to save others.

Our thoughts are with those affected by the tragic events that unfolded that day. And we will .

Hoy se cumple el 22º aniversario de los ataques del 11 de septiembre. Reúnase para conmemorar el 11 de septiembre en el Jardin Memorial en el centro de Napa hoy de 11 a. m. a 12 p. m. para un servicio conmemorativo organizado por Napa Sunrise Rotary. El ex supervisor del Condado de Napa, Brad Wagenknecht, hablará durante el servicio.
