💜☕ Tasty Travels: Pretty + Delicious at Starbucks ☕💜

Stopped by Starbucks and tried their Iced Ube Coconut Cream Shaken Espresso and WOW… this one is a winner 😍

First of all, can we talk about how gorgeous it is?! That purple ube foam over the espresso makes it almost too pretty to drink… almost 💜✨

Flavor-wise, the toasted coconut is smooth and mellow, not overpowering at all. It blends perfectly with the espresso and gives it a light, slightly sweet, almost dessert-like vibe without being too heavy. And that ube cold foam on top adds just the right creamy finish 👌

It’s refreshing, unique, and super easy to sip. Definitely one of those drinks that feels a little fancy but still totally drinkable anytime ☕💕

Highly recommend grabbing this one while it’s around!

🐣🍗 Tasty Travels: Palmetto Taps hit the spot today! 🍟🧀

After the Conway Parks and Rec Easter egg hunt today, I took the kids to Palmetto Taps and we had such a good lunch. We enjoyed their buffalo wings, fries, and mozzarella bites and everything was delicious.

Today was also a big day for them because Palmetto Taps switched over to their own in-house kitchen, and Chef Marc brought his own vetted buffalo sauce recipe with him. Y’all… that sauce is so good it’s almost drinkable. 🔥😂 It has that perfect bold buffalo flavor that keeps you going back for one more bite.

Such a fun way to end a day of Easter egg hunting with the kids. Definitely worth checking out if you love good comfort food and a really standout buffalo sauce!

✨🍽️ Tasty Travels: Hook & Barrel – Myrtle Beach 🍽️✨

After Amelia’s choir performance last night at the Carolina Opry in Myrtle Beach, we headed over to Hook & Barrel for dinner… and I can already tell you… we’ll be back 😍

We started at the bar, and right away Rob’s beer stood out. The Color Blind Coffee Blonde Stout literally smelled like fresh coffee ☕ and had such a smooth, rich flavor. If you like coffee, this one is a must.

I ordered the Spiced Ginger Pear Martini 🍐🍸 and WOW. This drink was perfectly balanced, not too sweet and not too strong. It’s made with pear vodka, ginger liqueur, pear, and cinnamon, and they garnish it with a dried pear slice that was just as delicious as the drink itself. I loved it so much I’d go back just for that alone.

Amelia got a Shirley Temple 🍒 and she was obsessed. Those huge cherries made it extra fun, and the way the syrup settled at the bottom made it such a pretty drink.

🔥 We took our drinks out to their wraparound porch and sat on swinging couches around a fire pit built right into the table. Such a relaxing way to start the night.

When we went inside for dinner, they surprised us with a complimentary South Carolina charcuterie board 🧀 with pimento cheese and lavash crackers. SO good. Simple, but done really well.

We ordered the She Crab Soup 🦀, and they thoughtfully split it into two portions for us. Creamy, rich, and full of flavor. Exactly what you want from a classic.

🥓 Then came the bacon… and you CANNOT skip this.
The Bourbon Bacon is thick-cut Duroc pork belly with a brown sugar bourbon glaze, served hanging from a really cool jellyfish-style display. Sweet, smoky, perfectly cooked… we are still talking about it.

🥗 We shared the Fig & Beet Salad, and this was one of my favorite parts of the meal. Roasted golden beets, arugula, bleu cheese, cherry tomatoes, fried Brussels sprouts, parmesan, fig purée, and balsamic. Those golden beets had such a rich, slightly sweet flavor. We loved every bite.

🍝 For our entrée, we shared the Angry Clams, linguine with local clams in a red pepper infused lemon butter sauce with parmesan. The sauce had the BEST lemony, slightly spicy kick. So flavorful without being overwhelming.

🥩 Amelia ordered the kids steak with fries, and it was cooked perfectly. Definitely not your typical kids menu quality.

🍰 For dessert, we grabbed treats to go from Croissants Bistro & Bakery including a strawberry champagne dessert and key lime pie. Both were amazing.

But next time… I already know what I’m doing, I saw a delicious dessert people were ordering but I was too full at the end of the meal to eat it. I’m ordering the pineapple bread pudding with coconut ice cream FIRST so I make sure I have room for it 🤤

✨ The vibe here is just as good as the food. The bar area has beautiful hanging jellyfish sculptured lights, the interior is bright and coastal, and outside is cozy with a fire pit and those swinging couches.

💡 What really stood out to us is that this feels like a fine dining experience without the intimidating price tag. The quality, presentation, and service are all elevated, but it still feels accessible and worth every dollar.

This place absolutely lives up to the hype.

📍 If you’re in Myrtle Beach, Hook & Barrel is 100% worth it.

☘️ Tasty Travels — North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Amelia and I had such a fun day at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival in North Myrtle Beach! The parade itself was about two hours long and there were so many creative floats, music, and people dressed in festive green everywhere.

After the parade we spent some time walking around the festival area, checking out vendors and grabbing some classic fair food. We shared some fried Oreos, fresh lemonade, and a corn dog, which hit the spot after sitting through the parade. For me, a corn dog is basically just a great vehicle for mustard 😄

One of my favorite floats was the one with the beautiful rainbow display. It was bright, colorful, and really stood out in the parade.

If you’re planning to go next year, one tip that worked really well for us was parking at Ocean Bay Elementary School and taking the free shuttle to the event. It made getting in and out super easy.

Such a fun local event and a great way to spend the day!

🍻 Tasty Travels — Conway, South Carolina

After falling in love with the self-serve tap experience at Auggie’s Draft Room in St. Augustine, we were excited to discover a local version right here near home at Palmetto Taps in Conway, SC.

This place is such a fun concept. You grab a card, head to the tap wall, and pour as little or as much as you want from dozens of options. It makes it easy to build your own beer flight and try several different styles. One of my favorite touches is that they even have Prosecco on tap served in wine glasses, which adds a fun little twist alongside the craft beers.

The food surprised us too, in the best way. We tried the house-made chips, seasoned French fries, and dry-rub wings, and everything was absolutely delicious. Fresh, crispy, and perfect for sharing while sampling drinks.

We actually stopped in while waiting for our pizza from Anto’s, which had over an hour wait on a busy Friday night. Anto’s is about three blocks down and a couple blocks over, so we popped into Palmetto Taps while we waited. Now that we know they have great food and the fun tap wall experience, we will definitely be coming here for the whole meal next time.

Great drinks, great food, and a really relaxed atmosphere. Safe to say this place will be on our regular rotation.

🌴 Tasty Travels: St. Augustine, Florida 🌴

Today was a great day exploring historic St. Augustine with plenty of delicious stops along the way.

We started with lunch at Harry’s Seafood Bar & Grille, a New Orleans–style restaurant right in the heart of the old city. We tried the Boudin Balls, which were crispy on the outside with a flavorful Cajun sausage and rice filling, served with a creamy remoulade dipping sauce.

For the main dish we ordered the Shrimp & Scallop Orleans, served lightly blackened over a crispy grit cake with tasso ham cream sauce and collard greens. The scallops were perfectly seared and the sauce had that rich, smoky Creole flavor that really made the dish stand out.

We also had a bowl of Harry’s Original Gumbo, which had deep, savory flavor with shrimp, sausage, and spices simmered together. Definitely one of those dishes that feels like it has been cooking all day.

After lunch we cooled off with fresh fruit popsicles from The Hyppo. They make them in tons of unique flavors and they were incredibly refreshing while walking around the historic streets.

Later in the evening we grabbed dinner and drinks with two fun stops. First was Auggie’s Draft Room, which might be one of the coolest beer concepts we’ve seen. It’s basically an adult version of a frozen yogurt shop, but with craft beer taps lining the wall. You tap a card and pour as much or as little as you want from each beer, which makes it a great way to try lots of different things.

My favorite was the PB & Jelly Sour from Dssolvr Brewing. Somehow it really does taste like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, sweet, tangy, and surprisingly good.

After that we stopped at Mimi’s Famous Crepes and tried the Monte Cristo crepe, which was the perfect sweet-and-savory way to end the day.

We’re staying at the Pirate Haus Inn, which is such a fun and unique place to stay. The rooms are pirate themed with bunk beds and nautical decor, and even the bedding reminds you that “Unless you can be a pirate, then always be a pirate.” 🏴‍☠️

St. Augustine has been such a fun stop on our Florida adventure. More exploring tomorrow!

Stay tuned for more Tasty Travels! 🍻🍧

🪄 Enjoying the first few hours of the Orlando Informer Meetup here at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida!

Our after-hours tickets include unlimited food and drinks, so of course we started with plenty of Butterbeer and some meals. We can officially say we've had an English Breakfast, or at least the Leaky Cauldron’s version of one 😄

The best part so far? Being able to basically walk onto the rides with almost no wait and grab another Butterbeer whenever we feel like it.

We have tickets for tomorrow evening too, so the adventure is just getting started. Stay tuned for more of the yummy discoveries!

🦪🍅 Oyster Roast & Bloody Mary Festival at Wicked Tuna, Murrells Inlet 🍅🦪

Michelle and I could not have picked a prettier day to hang out in Murrells Inlet. Blue skies, salty air, and Bloody Mary shooters in hand, that’s my kind of Saturday.

We made our way around the festival tasting everything we could. Here’s how it went…

We started with Neal’s Creekhouse and their pickled daikon shrimp Bloody Mary shooter. It was bright and tangy and woke up my taste buds right away.

Next up was Mother Shucker with an oyster and a green Bloody Mary shooter. The shooter leaned sour, and I actually loved that about it. It had that sharp, punchy bite that makes you immediately go back for another sip.

The Quay Seafood Grille gave us seared tuna on a crispy wonton nacho with a spicy Bloody Mary shooter. The crunch + tender tuna combo worked so well together.

Then came 1229 Shine, raw oyster topped with raw tuna and paired with their Bloody Mary shooter. This one was my second favorite of the day. The raw oyster and raw tuna together were so clean and silky. Such a fresh, briny bite.

But the winner? 🏆 Rustic Table.
Hot honey chicken, a green olive stuffed with pimento cheese, and a hush puppy, all skewered and paired with their Bloody Mary shooter. The sweet heat, the crispy bite, the creamy pimento cheese, and that bright olive cutting through everything… it was just such a perfectly balanced combination. Hands down my favorite.

And we can’t forget Black Cat Kitchen’s duck confit egg roll. What an experience. So flavorful, perfectly crisp, and that dipping sauce took it over the top.

Days like this make me so grateful we live here. Amazing local chefs, creative flavors, and a reason to spend the afternoon by the water with a friend.

Already counting down to the next one. 🌊

Tasty Travels with the Sherens 🍤

I went out to dinner tonight at Neal’s Creekhouse with a couple of friends, and while we ordered several dishes, there was one clear standout at the table.

The fried green “maters.”

Crispy fried green tomatoes topped with blackened shrimp, goat cheese, arugula, and then finished with their tomato bacon jam. That bacon jam is what really makes the dish. It’s savory with a touch of sweetness and brings everything together in a way that makes every bite better than the last.

We also ordered the fried gator with truffle fries and house slaw, along with chowder and fried oysters. Everything was good, but the fried green maters were easily the best thing we had and the dish I would go back for again.

If you’ve had them before, you know. If you haven’t, they’re absolutely worth ordering. I even recommended it to some other diners nearby and they heartily agreed after they received their own order of them 😋
