CALLING ALL COMMENTS: Alabama Department of Transportation is now accepting public comments for a proposed bridge replacement in Coosa County.

It's located on US-231 over Hatchet Creek near Rockford.

FINAL 280 SHUTDOWN: Alabama Department of Transportation will close US-280 at Pump House Road starting the evening of June 5. Crews are installing the final two bridge girders over the highway.

Westbound lanes will stay closed from Friday night through Monday morning.

Eastbound lanes will shut down Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings by 11 p.m., but reopen each morning at 5 a.m. The Pump House Road eastbound off-ramp will also be off limits at night.

FIX ON THE WAY: An equipment failure led to traffic signal timing issues at Rocky Ridge and Overton Roads on US-280 today.

ALDOT took immediate action to correct the problem. We made some temporary adjustments to help ease congestion this afternoon.

More permanent work will begin tomorrow to return the signal timing to normal.

We apologize for today's unforeseen inconvenience and as always, we thank you for your patience.

DDI ON THE WAY: Crews are making more progress on the future Diverging Diamond Interchange at McAshan Drive on I-59/20.

Today, crews opened the two brand new concrete on-ramps to traffic. The other two require a little more work.

Alabama’s 2nd DDI should open to traffic by the end of the summer.

REPAVING CLAY COUNTY: An ongoing resurfacing project on SR-77 should smooth out rides for western Clay County drivers.

The 7.6-mile project stretches from Idaho Road to the Talladega County line.

Work should be done between late summer and early fall.

ROAD CLOSED FOR PROGRESS: Alabama Department of Transportation has officially closed both I-59 northbound exit ramps at Chalkville Mountain Road in Trussville.

The closure is part of the ongoing project to widen I-59 to three lanes in both directions between Exit 141 and I-459.

The exit ramps are expected to reopen in 40 days.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED: Tallapoosa County drivers are now enjoying the completed replacement of the SR-50 bridge over Wind Creek.

The crossing just east of the Martin Dam Hydroelectric Plant is a big upgrade from the 1952 span it replaced.

BLOUNT COUNTY CROSSING: Work is winding down on the SR-79 bridge crossing in Locust Fork. The contractor is putting finishing touches on the two-year project over the Blackburn Fork of the Little Warrior River.
