Montclair-Boonton, Morris & Essex, and Gladstone NJ Transit trains have resumed service with residual delays following the earlier incident with the Newark draw bridge

05/26/2026

🚨 🚨 🚨 Service Alert: the Newark draw bridge is stuck open and as a result the Montclair-Boonton, Morris & Essex, and Gladstone lines are suspended in both directions. We will monitor.

Thinking about how Montclair was incorporated on April 15, 1868...in order to make a deal to run the train line. Montclair exists as a town because of transit, and transit has always been an important part of Montclair. Let's keep fighting to improve transit options!

2 big Montclair-Boonton line changes:

- Train 6270, which currently leaves MSU at 8:04 PM, will now leave at 7:51 PM, so that train is now going to move to 13 minutes earlier.

Our Chairman, Nick Giglia, was on The Montclair Pod this week talking about the results of the transit survey. The results confirmed everything we’ve been saying. Demand for transit, especially for off peak and weekend transit, is there, and residents are piecing it together on their own without an option from NJ Transit.

🚨 🚨 🚨 Service Change for the weekend of May 2-3: Buses will run between Bay Street and Newark Broad Street instead of trains due to track work. Please see this for more details:

Glen Ridge: make your voice heard!

Last couple days to participate! Survey closes this Friday!

Currently, weekend train service between Glen Ridge and New York City runs every two hours, with no bus service during off-peak periods. Officials from Glen Ridge, Montclair, and Bloomfield are working together to explore expanding regional service during these times.

This survey meant to examine travel habits, preferences, and barriers for public transit between Glen Ridge and New York City. Results will be shared with NJ Transit to inform discussions about potential improvements to weekend and off-peak weekday service.

Please note that while this will provide the Borough with insights about how people get to/from the Glen Ridge train station, the focus of this survey is off-peak and weekend NJT service and not a deep-dive on the jitney.

We appreciate your input. Please share this survey with other Glen Ridge residents.
