Port Authority Bus Terminal work is underway and some traffic re-routing will start in manhattan on Thursday.

Bus trips may take longer than they previously did, and there may be more traffic on the roads surrounding PABT.

This is a long-term project and we’ll have more about it soon.

The Port Authority is replacing its ramshackle Midtown Bus Terminal. Riders will face years of headaches as the work is finished.

Boxcar is implementing a new service called the Gaslamp Branch of the Essex Express that will run through Glen Ridge and up Grove St in Montclair during Portal North cutover activities.

We’re glad Boxcar is filling in with this service, but while Boxcar is a valuable part of the transportation ecosystem, it is not accessible to all riders and does not run outside peak hours. We hope that long-term we have an NJ Transit bus route along the same corridor.

Join members of the Council and Montclair’s Shuttle Bus Subcommittee for a community meeting on the possibility of a local shuttle bus program.

The Subcommittee will share updates on its work, results from the town-wide survey, and potential shuttle bus concepts. Residents are invited to attend, ask questions, and provide feedback to help inform next steps.

Montclair-Boonton, Morris & Essex, and Gladstone NJ Transit trains have resumed service with residual delays following the earlier incident with the Newark draw bridge

🚨 🚨 🚨 Service Alert: the Newark draw bridge is stuck open and as a result the Montclair-Boonton, Morris & Essex, and Gladstone lines are suspended in both directions. We will monitor.

Thinking about how Montclair was incorporated on April 15, 1868...in order to make a deal to run the train line. Montclair exists as a town because of transit, and transit has always been an important part of Montclair. Let's keep fighting to improve transit options!

2 big Montclair-Boonton line changes:

- Train 6270, which currently leaves MSU at 8:04 PM, will now leave at 7:51 PM, so that train is now going to move to 13 minutes earlier.
- Some Newark Broad St connections on trains are changing.

There are wider changes for Morris & Essex and Gladstone branch trains. Please check the NJ Transit site for more information.

Effective Sunday, May 31, NJ TRANSIT rail schedule changes will occur.

Our Chairman, Nick Giglia, was on The Montclair Pod this week talking about the results of the transit survey. The results confirmed everything we’ve been saying. Demand for transit, especially for off peak and weekend transit, is there, and residents are piecing it together on their own without an option from NJ Transit.
