Since 2012 the Rocky River Officials Association has been the trusted youth baseball umpiring source for communities in and around central and east central Minnesota. Entering the 2019 youth baseball season, the Rocky River Officials Association is looking for qualified youth baseball umpires to join our team.

This independent contractor role will umpire youth baseball games and tournaments between the months of April and August.

Compensation ranges from $40.00 - $60.00+ per game. Games last between 1.5 – 2.5 hours.

In this role the umpire will:
- Use accurate, quick judgment to determine balls and strikes, safe and out, fair and foul, catch and no catch.
- Enforce the rules and regulations set forth by league officials.
- Work with student athletes, coaches, and league officials in a professional manner.
- Maintain safety of players with the assistance of league officials and coaches.
- Monitor game times to ensure the proper start and end times of contests.

Qualifications:
- Must be at least 14 years of age or older.
- Experience playing either baseball or softball.
- Have reliable transportation.
- Ability to umpire at least 2 nights per week and 3-4 tournaments per summer.
- Previous experience umpiring is preferred, but not required.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to take the initiative and handle situations in a professional manner.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Self motivator and punctual.
- Understand the rules of the contest and enforce them appropriately.
- Strong decision making skills.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for multiple hours.
- Ability to hustle and get into proper positioning to judge plays accurately.
- Ability to crouch for periods of time.
