2/5/2025 After close to 2 months of Lake Okeechobee discharges out of the St. Lucie and Caloosahatchee Rivers there is now a large red tide bloom spanning from Sanibel to Key West. With no where to store and treat the polluted water from Lake O or way to filter it and send it south, the Everglades is starving for water and the east and west coasts are getting hammered with harmful algae blooms and water quality issues. Contact your state officials today and tell them this has to stop. Tell them you strongly condemn the US Sugar and Florida Crystals lawsuit against the EAA reservoir, as well as Sugars own proposed Rock Mine project directly adjacent to it which will render the EAA unusable, and tell them you want to see the EAA reservoir project expedited and completed as fast as possible. There will be a tipping point that will be unreturnable coming soon and we cannot let that happen to our most treasured resource here in Florida.
