The last peices of the railroad that spanned the Minnesota river near Fort Snelling and Mendota

There is not much left of the rail bridge. On the Mendota side, just a few yards from the historic Sibley house there are three remnants. The tunnel, a bridge support and bridge abutment.

Most people don't know there was once a railway bridge that went under the Mendota bridge. It passed under it twice, once just after it leaves the area below the fort, then back under on the Mendota side.
