When people hear that I’m a travel advisor, they usually picture the fun part—beautiful resorts, cruises, amazing destinations and helping people plan vacations.
And yes, I absolutely love that part. ❤️
But there is SO much more that happens behind the scenes.
Before I ever send a client a quote, I may have spent hours looking at locations, comparing resorts or cruise ships, checking flights, researching rooms, reading the fine print and figuring out which option actually makes sense for that particular traveler.
Then comes keeping up with deposits, final payments, documents, schedule changes, cancellations, new policies and all those little details that can make a BIG difference once someone is away from home.
And travel certainly doesn’t stay the same for long! 😂
Just when you think you have something figured out, a cruise line changes something, a resort updates a policy, an airline changes a schedule, a new system rolls out or a destination changes its requirements.
I’m still researching, training, asking questions and learning.
That’s one of the things I love about this career.
I don’t just want to sell someone a vacation. I want to know that when my clients pack their bags and leave home, I’ve done everything I can to help them have a great trip.
Sometimes that means planning an exciting vacation.
Sometimes it means answering a million questions.
And sometimes it means being the person they call when something has gone completely sideways. 😅
There is a lot of work that my clients will probably never see—and that’s okay.
Because at the end of the day, they’re not hiring me to click a “book” button.
They’re trusting me with their vacation, their money, their time and their memories.
