If it’s hot where you are, just think cool peaceful thoughts. Nice and cool where this North Carolina waterfall is!

Another beautiful day on the Blue Ridge! It was cool riding up into the fog and watching the wind blow it over the road. Definitely a bit cooler up there than down in the valley below!

Beautiful scenery, wonderful roads, and great people! Back for round 2 of the Smokey Mountains! Such a great place!! We were able to do some “extreme river tubing” through class 1 and 2 rapids today too. Definitely no lazy river tubing experience haha!

I bought a new Ninja 400 abs yesterday to be used as a commuter bike (I commute 170 miles round trip to work), intro track bike (I did 2 track days on my wife’s FJR last year but that bike isn’t really the ideal track bike), and a better around town bike for my wife to ride than her FJR. Picked it up with 0 miles on the odometer and .5 miles on the trip meter...doesn’t get much fresher out of the crate than that!

It’s a fun little bike! The Rally Wing works GREAT for Iron Butt Association rides (my main hobby), long distance rallies, and 2Up touring around the country with my wife...but I didn’t really need a 900lb rally bike with Flir nightvision, gps’, aux fuel, 2.5 sets of huge aux lights, ect for my 1.5 hr one way daily commute.

You don’t realize how different some bikes are until you ride 2200 miles in the last 7 days (1800
2Up and 500 solo commuting) on a fully loaded down touring bike and then wheel a 360lb bike around the driveway. I picked the bike up off the side stand at the dealer and almost had to catch myself to my right side I ripped it upright so quickly haha 😆

Pretty cool seeing all the bikes next to each other. Some similarities and some huge differences.

Now, to break it in and then knock out an IBA BBG on it!

What have you all done for this Memorial Day weekend?

When we aren’t tent camping this is how The Rally Wing does hotels on the road. Simply pull the Giant Loop dry bag and rack off with 2 pins and one lock unlocks the pelican box. Roll the Pelican inside to have everything from the top box easy to pack and access.

We have enough storage capacity to pack for a week+ of tent camping too if we wanted.

It’s a great system for 2Up traveling 🙂

Let’s see some comments with your camping/life on the road luggage systems!

The snow and salt in Michigan is finally gone!...although the 26 degree morning commute a few days this week had my heated gear turned up a bit!

I started riding May 1st this year. It was the latest start to my riding season in years! The plus side is we moved into a new house and I finally get to commute by motorcycle to work. No big Iron Butt Association rides this year yet due to Covid-19 but still managed to rack up 1,3xx+ miles so far due to commuting 170 miles a day to work 🙂 Good excuse to get some miles in!

How has your riding season started out so far?

Quarantining question of the day: What motorcycle projects are you working on?

This was a photo taken by Dylan Spink during the building of The Rally Wing. I haven’t done anything to it since the TX trip but it’s mostly ready to go 🙂

I grew up with a 1993 Yamaha Sorrow 225cc enduro that my Dad had and taught me to ride. The first bike that I personally bought was a 2007 Suzuki DRZ-400 Supermoto. It was a fun first bike for riding around town!

While we were in TX in December we visited the Alamo and the San Antonio Riverwalk. Parking is tough down there but we found a great lot that gave us a secure parking spot right near the lot security and even locked up our helmets and gear for us!

The Alamo is a cool historic site to check out. The Riverwalk with all the Christmas lights lit up and carolers riding around on boats was a fun experience too!

Have any of you been to the Alamo or the Riverwalk before?
