The emotional rollercoaster of building my first hot rod! 🎢🔧😂

It’s amazing how many emotions I can go through in just ONE evening of metalwork on my 1972 Chevy C10!

😎 “Okay, that shouldn’t be too hard!”

😳 “Wait… what was I thinking?!”

🤦‍♀️ “I have absolutely NO idea what I’m doing!”

😩 “I can’t do this!”

🤔 “Hang on… maybe if I try it this way…”

😏 “Okay, I think I’ve got this!”

😁 “Well, would you look at that… it’s actually coming together!”

And just like that, I’m ready to do it all over again! 😂

The funny thing about learning something completely outside your comfort zone is how quickly confidence can turn into frustration, self-doubt, and then, out of nowhere, a little moment of victory.

I’m learning that metalwork takes patience, persistence, and a willingness to get things wrong before getting them right.

Some evenings I walk out of the shop questioning my life choices. Other evenings I walk out feeling like I can take on the world!

And sometimes… I experience BOTH in the space of a few hours! 🤣

One truck. A thousand emotions. And a whole lot of learning along the way! ❤️🔧

🔧 BACK IN THE SHOP & BACK ON THE ROAD! 🚘

Another day in the shop and another step closer with my 1972 Chevy C10 project! I’m continuing to work on those door gaps, learning as I go, and making progress one adjustment at a time! 🔧

🔧 Getting those door gaps JUST RIGHT! 🛻

Who knew getting the door gaps lined up on my 1972 Chevy C10 would require so much patience?! 😅

I’m learning that when it comes to restoring a classic truck, it’s the little details that can make the biggest difference!

Today I’m working on getting those door gaps even and consistent, and I’m using the Mag Gap Tool Rusty Rigs and Rod Shop to help me achieve the spacing I’m after.

As someone tackling my very first restoration, I’m constantly discovering new tools, techniques, and just how much goes into building a truck from the ground up!

Some days it’s progress, other days it’s adjustments, adjustments… and MORE adjustments! 😂 But that’s all part of the journey, and I’m loving what I’m learning along the way.

💬 For those who’ve tackled door alignment before, what’s your best tip for getting those gaps perfect?
