Who we are:
Raymond Excavating Company has been in operation for over 69 years. We are well known in the South East Michigan market with an excellent reputation in the Civil Construction Industry. We are currently seeking to acquire a Construction Estimator/Project Manager with the ability to take ownership of a key position on the construction team.
This is an opportunity to work with one of SE Michigan’s most reputable contractors working on challenging projects in the sewer, water main, road construction, site work and crane rental industry; working for municipal, commercial and industrial clients.
Responsibilities:
• Attend pre-bid meetings, walk-throughs and site visits.
• Review bid requirements for projects ensuring all aspects of the project are documented and accounted for.
• Prepare takeoffs, work with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing
• Identify, manage and maintain relationships with subcontractors, ensuring bids are completed timely, completely and accurately.
• Develop and sustain working relationships with owners and clients through direct communication.
• Properly turn over bid documents and sub/supplier buyout information to the Field Supervision in a timely manner.
• Develop effective relationships with subcontractors and vendors.
Requirements:
• Civil construction estimating experience – MDOT experience is a plus.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is preferred. PE is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Candidates should be able to clearly articulate bid inclusions, exclusions, and proposal clarifications with owners and subcontractors.
• Proven track record in estimating successful civil construction projects.
• Ability to prepare proposals with minimum supervision.
• Have great organizational skills and be able to handle complex responsibilities.
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office, Outlook and Excel.
• Ability to read blueprints and construction documents.
• Ability to negotiate contract terms and conditions.
• Knowledge of project management and accounting fundamentals relating to the construction industry.
• Exhibit exceptional professional judgement.

Schedule:
• Full Time, Monday to Friday
