Solo traveling can get a bit lonely at times. However, seeing families making memories somehow makes me happy. Anyone else find this the case.

I’m not going to name the country but I saw this poor kitty locked behind bars. Maybe because it went crazy.

Such a wonderful place for a visit. Magical sunsets, mosques, churches blended with nature. Who could ask for more.

Sweetest thing ever. I left for the bus station this morning which is a 20 minute walk. I was greeted by 3 street dogs. I have some pats and scratches and watch the play for a few seconds and headed on my way. They all followed. Up and down streets, sometimes they were ahead of me and taking the proper direction to the station. We crossed streets at crosswalks and they arrived at the bus station with me. Also picked up an additional friend at the station. They waited with me until I entered the bus and they all scampered off. 29 minutes they were my buddies. Kind of odd. I think they knew I was going to the bus as I had all my stuff with me. I believe I got a personal es**rt. Maybe it was.

Thinking about Christianity after seeing a couple of things today. Went to the top of Mt. Vodno which overlooks the city of Skopje in Macedonia. This is the highest cross in Europe. The Millennium Cross was put up to commemorate the 2000 year history of Christianity in the area.

Visited the St. Pantaleimon Chuch that is in the area as well. Built in 1164 it features an original fresco dating back to that. Art historians have argued that the Renaissance period of art began here, with this fresco instead of Italy. This is due to the emotions shown by the subjects. Before this painting were more flat and non expressive in showing grief and such. Anyhow it was a nice spiritual moment.

This also brings about tolerance for people of other faiths. In this particular county there is a huge respect for those of other faiths. I think it is about 65% Christian (or other) and 35% Muslim. I’ve heard Orthodox church bells going off at the same time as call to prayer from a Mosque. Perfect timing.

Traveling on a budget I found that trains are a great way to get between cities and countries. The ride between Lustenau Austria across to the capital of Graz was quite affordable.
The views are quite stunning and seeing this from a car or bus just doesn’t seem the same.

One has to love the sound and feel of riding the rails.

There are apps such as Rail Ninja that are laid out nicely and work. I also downloaded the official app for various countries.
