This is another collection of shoes that were all handmade by Henry Asmus, Cornell University's first resident farrier, starting the program in 1913. Buster Conklin and Michael Wildenstein FWCF (w Hons.) followed in his footsteps consecutively. Steve Kraus is the current resident farrier at Cornell College of Veterinary medicine. I was fortunate to have had the opportunity photograph them individually when I was a student there in 2004 learning under Mike Wildenstein. They can still be seen at the farrier shop as they are displayed in shadow boxes around the farrier shop...enjoy!

This is one on the most interesting shoe collections I have run across. Thanks for all the interest and comments! It shows pride in trade work, interest in the history of our trade, the snapshot of a single master's work of which is so fun to try and figure out! Thanks everyone for your interest!

Nearly 60 shoes all still attached to the original hooves circa 1890s. All hand made by a farrier from Chartres, France. One of the coolest collections I've seen for none other than the hooves are on everyone of them!

Your client's horse grows this much foot in 5 weeks (shod around and in work). Would you as their farrier recommend a 4 week cycle? Why or why not?
