One Minute. One Bag. One Difference. 🌎

Today, Athena and I spent a portion of our hike picking up trash.

It's easy to walk past a discarded can, plastic wrapper, or bottle and assume someone else will get it. But that single piece of trash can take decadesβ€”or even centuriesβ€”to break down!!

A plastic bag can be mistaken for food by wildlife.
A can can trap small animals or leak chemicals into soil and waterways.
And when trash washes into rivers and oceans, it doesn't just disappearβ€”it becomes part of a much bigger problem.

That's why we always try to bring a small trash bag when we hike.

Because protecting nature doesn't require a huge group, a special event, or hours of your time.

Sometimes it just takes one person willing to stop and pick something up.

Watch how much trash we collected in just 60 seconds. πŸ‘‡

Next time you're out exploring, consider bringing an extra bag and packing out a little more than you packed in.

The trails, the animals, and future generations will thank you. πŸ₯ΎπŸŒ²πŸ¦ŒπŸ’š

Travel doesn't just change people.
Sometimes it changes entire cultures.

Take chili peppers, for example. 🌢️

Chili peppers originated in Central and South America.
For thousands of years, they were completely unknown to the rest of the world.

Then travelers, explorers, and trade routes carried them across oceans.

Today, it's almost impossible to imagine Thai curry without chilies. Indian cuisine without spice.
Korean kimchi without its signature kick. Or Sichuan dishes without their famous heat.

Yet none of those cultures originally had chili peppers.

A single ingredient traveled the world and became so deeply woven into other cultures that many people assume it was always there.

That's the beauty of travel.

When people move, explore, and share their traditions, they bring more than souvenirs home. They bring ideas, flavors, stories, and innovations that can shape entire generations.

The world we know today was built by cultures learning from one another.

And sometimes, all it takes is one journey... and one little pepper. 🌢️

What food from another culture could you not imagine living without?

Travel doesn't just take us to new placesβ€”
it shapes the world we live in

Take Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, for example.

In 1914, Japanese martial artist Mitsuyo Maeda arrived in Brazil and began teaching the principles of Japanese Judo and Jujutsu.
One of his students was Carlos Gracie, whose family spent decades adapting and refining the techniques.
What started as knowledge shared between cultures evolved into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsuβ€”a martial art now practiced by millions across the globe.

Think about that for a moment.

A skill crossed an ocean.
A culture shared its traditions.
Another culture embraced it, improved it, and made it its own.

Today, people from every corner of the world step onto a mat because of that exchange.

That's the power of travel.

Some of the world's greatest ideas, foods, sports, music, and traditions exist because people were willing to leave home, learn from one another, and share what they knew.
Travel isn't just about seeing new placesβ€”it's about the connections that inspire innovation and bring cultures together.

The next time you board a plane, remember: history has been shaped by people who were curious enough to explore and open enough to learn from those different from themselves.

I WANT TO HEAR YOUR STORY:

Ingredients:
β€’ 1 lb flank steak
β€’ 1 1/2 cups fresh parsley
β€’ 3 cloves garlic
β€’ 3/4 cup olive oil
β€’ 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
β€’ 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
β€’ Salt and freshly cracked black pepper
β€’ 3 cups baby red or Yukon gold potatoes
β€’ 2 tbsp olive oil (or beef tallow)
β€’ 4 large eggs
β€’ 1 tbsp butter w/ salt, pepper, and smoked paprika

Instructions:
1. In a small bowl, whisk together the chopped parsley, minced garlic, olive oil, red wine vinegar, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Set aside at room temperature for at least 15 minutes to let the flavors meld. Pat the flank steak dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and pepper.

2. Parboil the diced potatoes in a pot of salted boiling water for 4-5 minutes until just fork-tender. Drain well and pat dry. Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in a large skillet (cast iron works best) over medium-high heat. Add the parboiled potatoes and season with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Cook, stirring occasionally, until deeply golden and crispy on the outside (about 8–10 minutes). Remove the potatoes from the skillet and set aside on a plate.

3. In the same skillet, turn the heat to high and add a drizzle of olive oil. Place the flank steak in the hot skillet. Sear for 4–5 minutes on the first side to develop a deep brown crust. Flip and cook for another 3–4 minutes for medium-rare. Transfer the steak to a cutting board, tent lightly with foil, and let it rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing against the grain.

4. Turn the skillet heat down to medium-low and melt the butter. Crack the eggs into the pan, keeping a little space between them. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until the egg whites are fully set but the yolks are still perfectly runny (about 3 minutes for over-easy).

5. Plate the sliced flank steak, crispy breakfast potatoes, and over-easy eggs side-by-side. Spoon your freshly made chimichurri sauce generously over the steak.

Enjoy! 🫢🏼

As the World Cup kicks off, billions of eyes will be on the game.
But something even bigger is happening.

People from different countries, languages, religions, and backgrounds will come together for one shared experience.

Travel has always done that.

When people travel, they don't just visit places. They bring pieces of themselves with them.
A recipe.
A tradition.
A song.
A sport.
An idea.

Some of the things we love most today only exist because someone crossed an ocean, visited a new country, or shared their culture with someone else.

Over the next month, I'll be sharing fascinating stories of how travel has shaped the worldβ€”from food and fashion to sports and everyday traditions.

Because the greatest souvenir isn't what you bring home in your suitcase.

It's what you leave behind. 🌍🫢🏼
