We are no longer referring to ourselves as “full timers”. We bought our place in Arizona and spent more than 6 months there at the resort. We now are “most timers” in the RV world. That being said we left Death Valley early Sunday. Our reservations were four days in Vegas and a week in Lake Havasu. Well we were excited to get back to Arizona so we canceled this plan and drove straight through to Apache Junction.
Today was move in day. Of course there’s a huge storm coming.

☀️ Exploring the land of extremes! 🏜️We got an early start , a must out here to avoid the intense heat—and we were right, because it already hit 100°F by 11:00 AM! 🔥Even with the heat, we had an amazing drive through some of Death Valley’s most iconic spots. Fun fact: Death Valley has been used as a filming location for classic movies like Star Wars (as the desert planet Tatooine) and Spartacus! 🎬🪐

Our itinerary:
•Badwater Basin – Standing at the lowest point in North America (282 feet below sea level!) surrounded by massive salt flats.
•Natural Bridge – A short hike up a canyon to see a stone arch carving through the canyon walls.
•Devil’s Golf Course – A field of jagged rock salt structures so rough that "only the devil could play golf on it."
•Artist’s Palette – A drive through volcanic hills with bright pinks, greens, and purples from natural mineral deposits (and another famous Star Wars filming spot!).
•Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes – Rolling waves of sand.It is rugged, beautiful, and massive.

We sold the house,

And no, we didn’t lose our minds. We just realized we’re in this sweet, weird window of life.

We’re empty nesters now. We don’t know where our son Dominic will end up yet. Our parents are still active and independent. And we don’t have grandkids tying us down… yet.

Brian can work fully remote from anywhere with wifi. And we’ve done the big 3-story house, full to the brim with “stuff” thing.

Turns out most of that stuff? We don’t need it. And we definitely don’t want to keep dusting it.

So we chose memories over things.
We chose to see places while we still can.
We chose to be full-time-ish RVers. Well... "most-time" RVers now, since we also bought a little winter home in Arizona 😉

This season of life won’t last forever. So we’re using it.

We left Washington with heavy hearts, leaving our precious girl behind.
We miss you, Trixie.

Headed into Oregon and spent two rainy days at Crater Lake National Park. The pictures didn’t cooperate… until we caught a rainbow. That made it all worth it.

Leaving Oregon, we took the longer route to avoid steep mountain grades. Been there, done that, and NOT a fan. 😅

Next stop: Lassen Volcanic National Park in Northern California. It’s not a park you hear about a lot, but we loved it. We hiked a short 3-mile loop and drove through, and it was peaceful, wild, and totally worth the detour. If you’re ever up this way, I highly recommend it.

Tomorrow we’re off to Yosemite National Park for four days. Can’t wait.

Today was our fourth and final day at Olympic National Park .
We celebrated Brian’s birthday and took the Hall of Mosses hike . The trees were MASSIVE.

Day 1: we spent the day traveling to First Beach on the reservation and Ruby Beach where we went at low tide to be able to see the tide pools and all the fun sea life.
• Forks, WA is a real town on the Olympic Peninsula. Population ∼3,000. Known for rain, logging, and being surrounded by the Olympic National Forest. It’s where Stephenie Meyer set the Twilight books.
• But the movie wasn’t filmed there. Hollywood thought Forks didn’t have the right “vibe” so they filmed Twilight 200+ miles away in Portland, Oregon instead

“Forks” in the movies was actually:
• St. Helens, OR - Bella’s house / Charlie’s house
• Kalama, WA - Forks High School + the parking lot car scene
• Vernonia, OR - Downtown Forks scenes + Police Station
• Silver Falls State Park, OR - Baseball/meadow scene
• Cannon Beach, OR - stood in for La Push

Forks Today:
The town fully embraced it. Now you’ve got:
• The Twilight Museum at the Rainforest Art Centre
• Bella’s truck on display
• Self-guided Twilight tours
• Tourists from all over coming to see “the real Forks” even though the cameras never rolled there
