2026 trip to Glacier National Park

Day 3.
What a wild one! Got up at 5 am with intention to get a parking spot. Arrived by 6:45 with time to spare. Saw a bighorn sheep in the parking lot. Yes!!! We are off to a GREAT start. Found the Loganā€™s Pass trailhead and headed up the mountain to find Hidden Lake. It was a moderate hike with a boardwalk for much of the way. Saw more sheep. Started to sprinkle. Oh crap should we head back? No we are almost there letā€™s keep going. Took about an hour with lots to see on the way . Waterfalls, bright flowers, more sheep . Heard a bear whistle off in the distance but we didnā€™t see a bear. Finally made it to Hidden Lake and it was breathtaking. Started back down and the rain picked up a bit . Luckily downhill was MUCH quicker. Saw more sheep and a couple marmot. Hereā€™s the crazy part. Right toward the end of our hike about ten minutes left we could see a MASSIVE storm cloud rolling in off in the distance. It was moving SO fast. It was surreal . Just as we made it back to the lodge the cloud was upon us. We could barely see in front of us. And the ice cold rain picked up even more . The timing was impeccable. At least for us it was . I couldnā€™t help but think of the young kids and older people we saw heading up the mountain 20 minutes before . There was NO cover from the rain. On the drive back we saw a fox in the middle of the road and a bear on the side of the road and back at the camper by 9:30 I think.
