TOWER ALERT!

APTO Sponsored Heavy Duty Size and Weight Exemption Made Permanent

Ohio Towers:

Governor Mike DeWine has signed the state Transportation Budget – HB 62, including an APTO sponsored permanent exemption from size and weight limits for heavy duty towing and recovery vehicles traveling to and from the site of an emergency. Another huge win for Ohio’s towing and recovery industry!

The exemption now applies when a tower is engaged in the initial towing and recovery of a vehicle, when traveling to the nearest site where the vehicle can be brought into compliance, to the nearest qualified repair facility, and now to the nearest storage facility as well.

The exemption now covers towers traveling to the site of an emergency and returning from delivering a vehicles described above.

Following is the exact language that was signed by the Governor. APTO would like to extend a special THANK YOU to the members of the House Finance Committee, especially State Representative Dave Greenspan, for accepting our amendment and their attention to our testimony during the committee process. We extend the same heartfelt THANK YOU to the Senate Transportation, Commerce and Workforce Committee, including Chairman Senator Rob McColley the original member that introduced this amendment on behalf of the towing industry.
