We are hiring!!!Spread the word!! Position description below--**Position Title: Student Support and Transportation Specialist**
**Position Summary:**
The position of Student Support and Transportation Specialist pays $18.00 per hour for full-time work (32-40 hours per week). Please note that there are no additional benefits offered for this position. The Transportation Specialist reports to the Transportation Program Manager and requires a highly motivated person who is passionate about serving children. As the Student Support and Transportation Specialist, this person will be responsible for safely driving kids to or from school, sports, after-school programs and specialty educational programs, while maintaining good relationships and boundaries with each family involved. The successful candidate will have proven they are responsible, dependable, and enjoy working with kids of all abilities.
**Duties & Responsibilities:**
- Drive children to or from school, specialty educational programs, sports, and after-school programs.
- Check the condition of a vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, fuel, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order. Report any van malfunctions or needed repairs. Refill gas and track expenses as needed.
- Comply with traffic regulations in order to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
- Help children follow safety rules while boarding and exiting vans, and ensuring child safely enters drop-off and pick up locations
- Inform pertinent staff if children aren’t arriving on time for transportation or if there are behavioral issues.
- Keep van interiors clean for passengers.
- Initiate a calm transportation experience for children, adjusting temperature, sounds, and enforcing rules as needed.
- Build positive relationships with staff and families. Develop a growing knowledge of our client population that informs all other duties.
- Maintain strict confidentiality, objectivity, and professional boundaries.
- Attend and actively participate in weekly staff meetings and accept responsibility for the development of positive team relationships.
- Establish and maintain good long-term working relationships with staff and agencies referring clients to GO VAMO Transport.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Required Qualifications:**
- Have a clean driving record.
- Pass a 5-year background check.
- Pass drug testing; we do not allow recreational drug use and employees are required to pass random drug tests.
- CPR qualified.
- Exhibit excellent verbal interpersonal communications skills to facilitate effective interactions with staff and families.
- Sensitivity to the needs of staff and families from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
- Computer skills: Word, Excel, E-mail, and Internet navigation.
- Valid Nevada state driver’s license.
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
