A bill that would prohibit undocumented immigrants from operating commercial vehicles in Tennessee has passed the state legislature and is awaiting the Governor's signature. If signed into law, it would create misdemeanor penalties for undocumented individuals found operating a commercial motor vehicle in the state, including those holding commercial driver's licenses issued by another state. The legislation would also establish potential civil liability for employers or officials who knowingly hire or issue CDLs to undocumented individuals in violation of the law, and it directs law enforcement to notify federal immigration authorities following arrests made under the measure. If approved by Governor Bill Lee, the law is scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2026.

A semi-truck driver was caught illegally dumping empty plastic water jugs along a roadway in the Gila River Indian Community during a patrol by Officer Murphy and Kisto.

Authorities remind the public that illegal dumping can lead to arrest or citations, hefty fines, vehicle or equipment seizure, and cleanup costs. The Community is not a dumping ground, and officials urge everyone to dispose of waste responsibly.

Highway 41 Reopens After Crash

• Highway 41 in Gibson County reopened after a three-hour closure due to a crash involving a semi and an SUV.

• The collision occurred in the southbound lanes at Warrenton Road, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries to the SUV driver.
