So far our members have helped us send over 400 pounds of pumpkins to to feed their sweet animals! 🐮💚 We're still accepting pumpkins and gourds for another round of donations, so keep 'em coming.

Their animals love pumpkins, and it’s awesome that the Knoxville community helped saved lots of pumpkins from the landfill this year. We're so grateful for y'all!

It’s Gobble Week! 🦃 We’ll be closed Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday this week.

Thursday pickups will be on Wednesday instead, so Thursday folks be sure to set your bin out a day early.

As you’re cooking and composting through the holidays, remember you CAN put meat, bones, dairy products, eggs, veggies, fruits, and more in your Green Heron bins. Keep all your food waste out of the landfill and turn it into compost with us!

animals love munching on our members’ leftover pumpkins. Just set your pumpkins out with your compost bin on your pickup day, and all the edible ones will be delivered to for their adorable animals.

If your pumpkins aren’t edible, put them inside your bin, and we will compost them!

Join our team and help us reduce Knoxville’s waste — you’ll drive a trailer to pick up and drop off food waste, operate a tractor to turn the compost, and help us manage our compost operations around town!

Reminder - compost your pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns with us! No paint, wax, chemical treatments, stickers, etc. 🎃

Keep us in mind when you’re done with your pumpkins later this fall 🎃

We’re partnering with this year to donate clean + edible pumpkins to their sanctuary animals! 🐮🐷🐔❤️ If your pumpkins are edible, please place them beside or on top of your bin. If you have pumpkin guts and rotting pumpkins, put them inside the bin.

All pumpkins that are past their prime will be composted.

We will only accept pumpkins that ARE NOT:
🚫 Painted
🚫 Treated with chemicals (like a bleach bath to make them last longer)
🚫 Covered in stickers or plastics
🚫 Covered in wax (many waxes are made from petroleum)
