Rachel and Klayton are having a little fun composting with Green Heron. Take a look at this sunflower making its way back to the soil. 🌻

Just another reminder that there’s plenty of life left in what we throw away.

So far our members have helped us send over 400 pounds of pumpkins to to feed their sweet animals! 🐮💚 We're still accepting pumpkins and gourds for another round of donations, so keep 'em coming.

Their animals love pumpkins, and it’s awesome that the Knoxville community helped saved lots of pumpkins from the landfill this year. We're so grateful for y'all!

Knoxville wouldn’t be the same without all of its wonderful small businesses. We want to recognize a few favorites that value taking care of our planet 🌎👉

- the best soaps and skincare products made for everyone!

- one of our partner farms and wonderful land stewards!

- sustainable refillery shop with community resources!

It’s Gobble Week! 🦃 We’ll be closed Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday this week.

Thursday pickups will be on Wednesday instead, so Thursday folks be sure to set your bin out a day early.

As you’re cooking and composting through the holidays, remember you CAN put meat, bones, dairy products, eggs, veggies, fruits, and more in your Green Heron bins. Keep all your food waste out of the landfill and turn it into compost with us!

11/19/2025

animals love munching on our members’ leftover pumpkins. Just set your pumpkins out with your compost bin on your pickup day, and all the edible ones will be delivered to for their adorable animals.

If your pumpkins aren’t edible, put them inside your bin, and we will compost them!
