When Hurricane Irma hit the Florida Keys in September 2017, she left behind a massive amount of trash and debris in the surrounding waters. A group of neighbors got together and started cleaning up the canals and back country...furniture, appliances, and all kinds of trash, including old fishing lines and ropes. And with that initial effort, the Conch Republic Marine Army (CRMA) was born. Almost 9 years later, the organization has grown with local participation and sponsorships, and they now have 4 trips each week to help keep our islands and surrounding environment clean and free of debris. We're happy to have raised $530 during our April Jump Up for this important group. You can learn more about the CRMA and sign up as a volunteer on their website:
