What other resources are available to Angel Flight Central passengers? ✈️

A free flight can be one part of the support a patient or family may need along the way. That’s why we keep a Resources page filled with organizations that can help with things like lodging, ground transportation, patient support, and more.

One of those resources is Songs of Love , which creates personalized songs for children, teens, and seniors facing medical, physical, or emotional challenges. 🎵

More Than One Reason to Fly ✈️📦

A recent Angel Flight Central flight from Kansas City to Wichita had more than one purpose.

Volunteer pilot and AFC Board Member Darryl, along with his wife and mission assistant, Jo, flew Professor Mamatha to Wichita, where she was giving a talk to a Myasthenia Gravis patient support group.

And on that same flight, they also transported more than nine boxes of handmade cradles for

Bridget’s Cradles provides handmade cradles to grieving families, helping them feel more comfortable while bonding with and loving on their precious baby. Each cradle provides added stability for a delicate baby and helps family members feel more confident holding and transferring their baby between loved ones.

Thank you to Darryl and Jo for making it all possible, to Professor Mamatha Pasnoor for spending her time supporting and educating the Myasthenia Gravis community, and to Bridget’s Cradles for the meaningful work you do!

Happy National Aviation Day from Angel Flight Central! ✈️

Today is a time to appreciate the people, technology, and possibilities that flight makes possible.

At Angel Flight Central, we see another side of what aviation can make possible. For 31 years, we’ve been bringing people and volunteer pilots together to help passengers reach the medical care they need.

For our passengers, a flight isn’t simply a way to get from one airport to another. It could mean making it to a medical appointment they otherwise might not be able to reach or getting home after receiving care far from where they live. And it’s all made possible by volunteer pilots who are willing to share their time, aircraft, and love of flying to help someone else.

That’s what makes general aviation so special to us. It’s not just about where an airplane can go but what that flight can make possible.

So today we’re celebrating the history of flight, the people who continue to push aviation forward, and especially the volunteer pilots who use their passion for flying to help others.

Happy Aviation Day!
And to every volunteer pilot who has taken to the skies with AFC, thank you for showing us how much one flight can do!

Can Angel Flight Central Fly Kids to Summer Camp? ✈️

Yes! Our volunteer pilots help children and teens travel to specialized camps, giving them the opportunity to spend time with other kids who understand some of the experiences they share.

Recently, Frank and Wade flew London and her mom from Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Lee's Summit, Missouri, so London could attend Camp ChiMer, a free overnight summer camp through Children's Mercy for children and teens with kidney conditions. Wade's mission assistant, Jim, joined the flight and captured this photo.

For families already balancing appointments, treatments, and everything that comes with caring for a child with medical needs, traveling long distances to camp can be another challenge. Our volunteer pilots help make these experiences more accessible.

Thank you to Frank, Wade, and Jim for helping London get to and from camp this summer! 💙

This Friday, we're recognizing volunteer pilot Eddie for going above and beyond for one of our passengers!

Eddie flew Jenny and her husband, Corey, from Plymouth, Indiana, to Rochester, Minnesota, for Jenny's medical appointment. He planned to stay overnight so he could fly them home the next day, but when the weather had other plans, he stayed an extra day to make sure they got home.

This is another great example of how incredible our volunteer pilots are. They generously donate their time, their aircraft, and sometimes even an extra day away from home to help patients get the care they need.

Thank you, Eddie, for your generosity, and thank you, Jenny and Corey, for letting us be a small part of your care. ❤️✈️

✈️What Happens After the Flight Lands?

Every Angel Flight Central flight begins with a purpose, helping patients and their loved ones reach the medical care they need. But sometimes, the impact of a flight continues after the plane lands.

Zoey and her mom recently flew from Republic, Missouri, to Chicago so her mom could receive care from a mesothelioma specialist. Volunteer pilots Bob and Clark helped make that trip possible, providing more than transportation. They provided comfort and kindness during an uncertain time.

After returning home, Zoey shared a message that reminded us exactly why our volunteer pilots continue to give their time and talents.

She shared that Bob and Clark were "truly amazing," describing them as "kind and caring, professional and compassionate." She also shared that flying with Angel Flight Central was "definitely a truly unique experience" for her family.

After their appointment, Zoey and her mom received incredible news. Her mom’s cancer was confirmed to be in remission, and they were able to share that moment with Clark on their flight home!

Stories like Zoey’s remind us that every flight is about more than the miles traveled. It’s about the people met along the way and the hope carried from one place to another.
