“How hard can it be?” You've probably heard this remark, or a variation of it, when hangar flying conversations turn to the topic of formation

We had an excellent time hosting the EAA B-17 from May 28, 2014 to June 3, 2014. One day longer than scheduled due to a one day weather delay in departing Indianapolis Regional Airport for Waterloo, Iowa. Four Squadron 3 members (Don Born, Bob Messer, Ken Moncrief, and myself) enjoyed a flight in the B-17 of about 2 hrs 40 min.. The drive back though was a bit long. About eight hours. A couple of Squadron members went above and beyond in helping out. Thanks goes to Ed Kaake for providing the van for the B-17 crew to use during their stay in the area. Don and Judy Born also provided some very much appreciated housing for Bill Crabill. That saved him a 60 mile drive; one way between Indianapolis and West Lafayette each day.
All of the B-17 crew members, EAA B-17 tour staff (that visited and those that could not leave Wisconsin) did an excellent job. It was a pleasure to work with them.
Thanks goes also to the folks at INDY JET. Ryan Maxfield (Manager) and his crew did a great job.
The folks with AOPA also organized an excellent on Saturday, May 31, 2014. There was a very good turn out for that day.
