The Texas Repertory Theater in Houston found an exciting new way to feature the Milton Bell!! It will be in their production of "Pump Boys and Dinettes". The dates of the performance are July 10 - August 3rd. We aren't going to tell you how it will be used. You'll have to go see the performance. But, we guarantee you'll enjoy it! Go see it!

When the Mayflower pilgrims bumped into Plymouth Rock in 1620,
they struggled for months until the Native Americans found them. If only they had something better than smoke signals to alert the Indians that they had arrived. A Milton's Bells driveway alert would have been the ideal way to say "Ding-ding, Let's have Turkey!"

Did you know that one of our bells was almost a movie star? Yes, it's a fact. When a prop staffer for the Warner Bros movie "42", the true story of baseball legend Jackie Robinson, starring Harrison Ford and Chadwick Boseman called us to order a Milton Bell Kit to be featured in the movie's gas station scene, we were thrilled!!! We could not wait to watch and see our bell's starring role. But, no doubt you've heard of scenes being left on the cutting room floor. During the movie, the gas station attendant was already outside working on a car. He was basically waiting for Jackie Robinson's bus to arrive. So, we assume the bell scene was cut.

In a movie, they can pay an actor to stand outside and wait for Jackie Robinson's car to drive up to their business. However, for those of us who live in the real world and do not always have an attendant (or actor for that matter) waiting outside to watch for a car, then a Milton's Bells drive though system is obvious solution. Do you need to be notified each time a truck drives up to the scale at your business? Our bells systems are great for for landscape, recycle, trash, salvage and any other business where a truck scale is utililzed. Our systems allow a person in a neighboring building to be alerted when a truck drives up to their scale. We have systems that can produce a soft chime or a clear bell ringing. Our hose systems are rugged and dependable. They transmit a signal each time the hose is compressed and activate the bell or chime.

We offer a couple of monitoring options, the first is the Milton and Original bell kits; the second is a wireless chime kit. All of the kits including the wireless kits use a driveway hose to activate the bell. The hose crosses the driveway that you want monitored and connects directly to the bell or, in the case of the wireless kit, to a transmitter box.

The difference between the Milton and Original bell kits and the wireless system is that the hose is not needed to run all the way to the receiver/chime. This can be an advantage for longer distances. The wireless kit is rated up to 600' however this distance can be reduced with thick vegetation, trees, and buildings between the transmitter and receiver. The wireless kits activate an electronic chime that is capable of playing four different sounds. This chime is also able to ring a low-voltage bell for situations that require something louder than the chime alone. When a bell is used in conjunction with the electronic chime both the chime and bell ring. The low-voltage bell has to be wired to the chime using low-voltage wiring. This low-voltage wiring is not included with the kit and needs to be purchased separately.

The standard Milton bell kits can be used with up to 300' of driveway hose and the Original Bell can be used with up to 150' driveway hose.

All three systems will help alert you to vehicles arriving and leaving your scale.

Milton's Bells has recently donated two of our driveway bell kits to Habitat for Humanity International. The driveway alarm bells are used by Habitat for Humanity to let them know when a new donor has arrived.

“We are always teaching our new managers that making their ReStores donor friendly is extremely is important. The drive-way bell is a great way to ensure that donors are received as soon as they arrive at the store with their donation.”

Habitat's ReStore locations sell surplus building materials to the public at a fraction of the retail price. The proceeds are used to fund the construction of local Habitat home projects.

Super Bowl Commercial & Milton's Bells
In 2012 Milton's Bells was contacted to see if we would be interested in donating one of our vintage Milton Bells to be used in a Super Bowl TV commercial. We were told that the commercial would be advertising the new 2012 Chevrolet Corvette and would be submitted, along with several others, to compete for air time during the 2012 Super Bowl. Naturally we were very excited to participate and loaned one vintage bells for the spot.
The commercial was shot in Shamrock, Texas and opened with panaroma of this classic art-deco gas staion on old Route 66.

A vintage Corvette, that seemeds to be driven a ghost, pulls into the gas station at night. As it slowly rolls to a stop it drives across the bell ringer tubing, rings the signal bell waking the gas station attendant. "Ding-Ding"

Just as soon as the car has filled its tank it miracuously transforms into a brand new 2012 Corvette and speeds off. The surprised gas station attendent to run outside just in time catch a glimpse of it all. In the end the commercial did not air during the Super Bowl but we were very excited to be a part of it. It brought to life a great old gas station and piece of Route 66 history and, of course, features one of our vintage Milton bells.

When this commercial opens, it's obviously nighttime across the street from a beautiful classic 1930s-era Art Deco gas station along the famous Route 66 High...

Milton's Bells at Goodwill International Tradeshow

We recently traveled to Atlanta to participate in the Goodwill Industry International Tradeshow. It was our first convention and we learned a lot about traveling with inventory, manning a booth, and we were very excited to be a part of the show and to participate in the events provided for the vendors. Goodwill is a very interesting organization, whose motto is, "A hand up, not a hand-out."
At the end of the show we had donated some of our inventory to Goodwill for use in their stores.
