This week, our team had the opportunity to work with the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography on the R/V Savannah, a 104' research vessel built by Washburn & Doughty. We replaced shaft anodes and cleaned the running gear to ensure peak performance and protection below the waterline.

In this photo, the collar anode shows about 75-80% remaining, but notice how the zinc around the screw holes is completely gone. Even though most of the anode appears intact, this loss means it’s no longer securely attached — and without that connection, it can’t effectively protect your boat.

This is why you might see us report an anode at 80% one visit and then replace it the next. Once the area around the screws deteriorates, the anode is no longer doing its job, no matter how much material is left.

Running a tight, efficient schedule means sometimes we finish a little early — and I believe in rewarding the team when we do. This time, I planned a well-deserved Friday off and treated the crew to a day of offshore fishing with Above and Below Fishing Charters aboard the Salty Mistress.

To make the day even better, we invited the owner of a local boat detailing company to join us. It was a great day spent connecting, relaxing, and recharging — and of course, reeling in some fish!

Big thanks to Above and Below Fishing Charters for an awesome trip. Here's to hard work, smooth sailing, and plenty of tight lines!

We take a lot of pride in the boats we maintain, and this 68-ft Predator Sunseeker is no exception. The owner spares no expense in keeping it in top shape, and it shows.
