3 things that helped to heal resentment with my partner â¤ď¸
Resentment is rarely about one argument.
Itâs usually the accumulation of unmet expectations, broken promises, unfairness, emotional disconnection, and feeling like youâre carrying more than your share of the relationship energy.
Iâve experienced this in my own marriage.
After becoming parents during COVID, my husband and I were working opposite schedules while raising our daughter. As the mom, I felt much more of the sacrifice in those early years and struggled with the unfairness of how drastically my life had changed. Looking back, much of my resentment wasnât actually about my partnerâit was grief, overwhelm, and unmet needs colliding all at once.
Our daughter is almost 6 now, and weâve grown stronger than ever through intentional resilience.
Here are 3 things that changed everything:
⨠1. I stopped focusing on who was right.Healing began when I identified the deeper wound underneath my frustration.
⨠2. I looked at relationship energy instead of isolated behaviors.I started focusing on reciprocity, trust, effort, and where energy was getting blocked between us.
⨠3. I healed the wound, not just the symptom.Resentment often stems from disappointment, broken promises, feeling unseen, or emotional injuries that require real repairânot just better communication.
My own healing journey inspired me to create a trauma-informed, somatic relationship repair process and my monthly Flow Relationship Energy Mastery⢠membership.
Because these are the relationship and emotional skills every adult needs... yet somehow no one teaches them.
Resentment doesnât always mean the relationship is over.
Sometimes itâs simply a sign that repair is needed. â¤ď¸
