Lately, life has looked a little like cabinet doors leaning against walls, half-organized closets, and rebuilding one small corner at a time.

What started as a reflection about reorganizing my camper turned into something much deeper about grief, transition, loss, growth, and the tsunami seasons of life.

This piece is deeply personal, especially the parts about losing my husband and rebuilding afterward.

If you’re in one of those seasons yourself right now, I hope this reminds you that rebuilding rarely looks graceful in the middle of it.

Maybe growth doesn’t happen while we’re surfing at all.
Maybe it happens afterward — standing in the wreckage, deciding what still matters enough to rebuild.

A little Nomadic Nana shoutout today… 💚🚐

I’ve now purchased and traded trailers through McGeorge’s RV / Camping World in Ashland, Virginia, and I genuinely want to say thank you to the people there who helped make this whole process feel far less overwhelming.

When you’re making big life transitions — downsizing, rebuilding, becoming more mobile, figuring out what “home” looks like next — it matters how people treat you.

Kayc Paris was wonderful throughout the process. Responsive. Patient. Easy to communicate with. She showed me SO many units, answered approximately 4,000 questions 😅, and what I appreciated most was that she actually understood small camper living from personal experience. That mattered.

Chris in finance was incredibly kind and straightforward, and Phil in trade-ins helped me feel heard and respected while working through options and numbers.

Of course there were sales moments — it’s a dealership, after all 😉 — but overall the experience felt open, honest, conversational, and collaborative.

And honestly?
I never once felt rushed.

I was given time to think.
Time to compare.
Time to crawl around bathrooms pointing at things like a complete lunatic.
Time to imagine what this next season of life could actually look like.

That matters more than people realize.

So thank you to everyone who helped Nomadic Nana find her way toward Beatrice 2.0 💚

These are a few of my favorite things… ☀️🏕️🚲🥾☕🐾

Okay Nomadic Nana friends…
What is the ONE thing you absolutely can’t live without when you’re camping, hiking, biking, traveling, or simply spending time outdoors?

Could be practical…
Could be cozy…
Could be totally ridiculous. 😂

Mine?
Coffee. Always coffee. Cheers! ☕💚

For everyone with a mom…this is for you 🌿

For loving the moms still here.
For the moms we miss in fond memory.
For the women who became “mom” the untraditional path.
For the grandmothers, stepmoms, bonus moms, aunties, mentors, pet moms and caretakers.
For the tired moms, the healing moms, the trying-again moms.
For the people carrying complicated memories today.
For the ones lucky enough to make the phone call.
And for the ones wishing they still could.

Mothers leave fingerprints on our lives in ways both loud and quiet.

So today, may we pause long enough to remember the love, the lessons, the sacrifices, the strength, the softness, the chaos, the comfort, and the humanity behind the word “Mom.”

Happy Mother’s Day

Apparently, I no longer own the recliners in this trailer.

Tili and Haven have officially confiscated both chairs, every blanket, and most of my personal space.

But honestly?

This tiny little sanctuary is starting to feel like home.
Soft blankets. Warm lighting. Dogs snoring beside me. Papers and projects stacked nearby. Coffee in the morning. Quiet at night.

It may not look like the life I imagined years ago… but there’s something deeply comforting about building a life that finally fits who you are now.

Cozy wins. Every time.

Ten days in… and I finally did the dishes. 😂

Confession:
Of all domestic chores, dishes are absolutely my least favorite.

So naturally, I adapted.

One coffee cup used repeatedly.
Paper plates.
Plastic bowls.
A strong sense of denial.

Living in a travel trailer teaches you something interesting:
You really don’t need as much stuff as you thought you did.

Apparently including clean dishes.

And yes… if you look closely, you’ll notice the bananas hanging in the corner. That’s because RV life has also taught me another important lesson:

Never buy too many bananas.

Four bananas becomes a countdown clock to banana bread panic.

So this morning?
Another banana and peanut butter breakfast for the win.

But today, the sink finally got handled.
The coffee is hot.
The girls are settled.
And somehow this tiny little kitchen already feels like home.

Not perfect.
Not Pinterest.
Just real life.

And honestly?
That feels pretty good.

Nomadic Nana truth of the day:

Yesterday I had a craving so strong I drove to the grocery store for ONE thing…

Crunchy peanut butter. 😄

This morning?
Banana + crunchy peanut butter = absolute perfection.

No fancy breakfast.
No five-star spread.
Just something that makes you go, “Yep… this hits.”

Somewhere between toll roads, trailer life, and figuring it all out…

you remember it doesn’t take much to feel good.

What’s your “strange craving” food??
