Adventures with Elli & Diego Travels US and Europe including Cruising

Sea Day (last of this voyage) - 09:40 Diamond Lounge for cappuccino and fruit Danish. Stir fry w/ shrimp & watermelon for lunch. Relax in the cabin. The sun on the balcony now is too muggy & hot.

Drink water to hydrate offsetting last evening's festivities.

Last night of 2nd sailing. Because of my coughing we decided not to attend any of the shows. Next Sailing begins tomorrow - same ship with a different room.

We have nearly run out of our sudoku and word search puzzles. It would be a taxi ride to Cocoa to get a few more books. Not a frugal choice.

We "level up" next week. This included two free days each of the WiFI and an extra "bottle of water" daily...plus a few other things.
Preferred seating in the ice show and show theater.

Note: special feature salad at the lido buffet was coleslaw or potato salad...not ceviche or shrimp cocktail. Hmm...?

Lower ABV cocktail - Rosso (Sweet) Vermouth w/ lemon-lime soda and orange wedge. Yum!

Overcast - low lying clouds. Foothills. This could be the Smokies...only we're in Falmouth Jamaica. Lots of dead deciduous trees along the water's edge. It's been way hotter here before. 88 F. Stay hydrated out there.

My cough seems to be getting better. I've backed off on the cough drops and suppressant.

Because of not sleeping well, I woke up to get around about 11 am. We had coffee at the elite lounge. Very few people there. Port day via tender boats to shore. Didn't feel up to it today.

We enjoyed a calm day outside of our cabin without many loud people. Even in the Lido buffet it was pretty "chill". Personally enjoying reading and hanging out with my wife/best friend.

Do you stay on ship sometimes?

We brought a couple bottles of spring water along with four cans of Diet Doctor Pepper. The lounge on this train gave us ice in a cup for free.

Another one of our money savers is to bring our own sandwiches. Granted, the train was not scheduled to depart our station until 9:31 pm. We stopped at the JJ's for "day old" bread last week and froze them for tonight's trip. Ham, Havarti and yellow mustard on special bread. You can't beat that. Probably not a great idea for being around lots of people.

I'm so excited that it is really calm on the train. This train actually goes to Florida. We're not headed there - this time. In the train car behind us there are people headed to Raleigh NC, Jacksonville, Orlando and Tampa.

The train station was quaint and older. They had one bathroom, a drinking fountain, nice benches and windows to look out. We had quite an electrical storm show with great sound effects too.

We received an update text from Amtrak that the train would be late. No problem. We were inside. But the rain kept coming down...and then the train arrived. We hauled our luggage out to the platform and ascended the stairs. There was a young man who hoisted our luggage up onto the train.

We'll be on this train for several more hours. Enjoying the Adventure with my best friend, wife and life-long travel partner.

Diego Mack Muffin breakfast sandwich. "Look, Hun! We have English Muffins. Do you want peanut butter and jam or honey?" I ask.

"We had that yesterday, only with home-made bread machine toast," Elli replied. What about an egg muffin? Do we have enough ham?"

"I think so..." I responded.
Fork split the English muffins. Begin toasting on the lightest setting...even if it takes several times. Hardly delicious if it is over toasted.

Warm up the cast iron pan for searing the deli-thin, sliced honey ham. It only needs a minute or so on each side.

A couple slices of American Processed Cheese product...I realize that it is made with cheese and not real cheese. It is what we grew up with (dangling preposition).

Most importantly are the quickly cooked, broken yoke farm fresh eggs with a bit of table salt and ground black pepper. "Do you want some mustard on that?" I holler into the other room.

"No, let me try it first before modifying," Elli replies.

It was so satisfying - especially since we didn't go out to buy it and that the eggs were fresh from our own farm.

We'll be without them for a few weeks.I doubt we'll eat any eggs while we are gone. Nothing quite like farm-fresh eggs.

04/23/2026

Farm-fresh eggs and toast made from home-made bread machine loaf.

Peanut Butter-Oatmeal cookies, thanks to Elli for using some of the eggs. They were so delicious. No I haven't eaten them all.

04/20/2026

We took some leftovers out of the freezer. I had no label... Waited for it to thaw the opened it to look and sniff. Hmm...? I decide to heat it up (nuke it). It tasted okay. Had Elli try it as well. Still a Hmm...? There was not really much if we were going to share it.

I suggested adding a can of sweet corn or baked beans. Elli agreed - yet only like half of the can. Ex*****on time. Ding! not hot enough yet... after several tries...Ding! Wahoo! Let's try it. It was too sweet from the "Country Style" baked beans. Cajun seasoning to the rescue - "Ayee!"

We didn't have to use an app to have something delicious. No new money spent. Staying frugal while at home.

On a side note: We bought bathroom tissue (as stock up - they were definitely on sale). We also bought diet/zero sugar 12 packs of sodas/pop.

No extra driving today. Spent the day resting around the house waiting for the plumber to call. I ran to the post office to drop off packages.

We made grilled cheese using the bread machine loaf we made last night. So yummy. "grilled cheese" on the ship is nothing like what we make at home.

I heard a few rolls of thunder in the distance earlier this evening. Picked up a few downed branches on the front glen. I enjoy coffee at home, but I do miss a cappuccino now and again.

04/17/2026

We wanted bread to go with our fresh farm eggs. Started the bread machine at 2:10 am. Around about 4:40 am the smell was intoxicating. The timer went off and I took it out and rested it on a cooling rack for ten minutes. I had heard that the bread is usually really difficult to cut if it's too warm. Ten minutes was just about right. It was still a bit warm. It didn't even need butter. So yummy!

We had ingredients. We didn't buy bread from the store. This "made at home" with only ingredients I can easily pronounce... My mouth is watering while thinking about the eggs and toast (that I'll never order on the cruise ship). Maybe on a second piece of toast I can have some blackberry jam we made last summer.

We decided to skip the doughnut this morning after an appointment. Coffee at home with raw sugar and whole milk. Then a breakfast taco. Maybe we had one yesterday... Yes, that's correct. This time we added diced honey ham and some "taco sauce".

I laid down for a quick thirty minute nap. The next thing I knew, it was two hours later. That was resting in the easy chair. I really needed to sleep in the bed, though. Two more hours later, we needed to get up because we had a visitor planning to come over. Hurry and make some more coffee. Haha.
