We had to drive to Northern Germany to board our cruise tomorrow. In Germany fuel is sold by the liter. We had to stop for fuel and got over 57 liters which is the equivalent of just over 15 gallons. The cost was 124 euros. In USD we paid over $142. That is $9.46 per gallon! And we thought we had it bad!

One of my favorite things about traveling in Germany is the emphasis on family and family time. Sundays are meant for relaxation and fun. Stores are closed and everywhere you go the parks are full, families are having picnics, lots of bike riding and walking everywhere.

Just a short drive from the Ramstein US Air base and the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center for active duty troops is a small little village called Bann, Germany. The streets are narrow and the buildings are fascinating. To me, it feels like driving back in time.

She found several great options that checked all the boxes for what we were looking for and paid close attention to every detail throughout the process. Went through the new EES system this afternoon. Very quick and easy. Several kiosks set up. You scan your passport, then it takes your picture, and then you put your right four fingers on the scanner to capture your prints. That was it. Then you go through passport control and they confirm everything. You have to complete this same process when you leave the EU. I‘ve read that at times there can be backups at other airports so especially important to allow extra time on departures.

On a day of delays and missed connections, look for the good things - Free food and drinks. Always a good thing to have a credit card that provides free airport lounge passes. I can pass the time much easier in a nice comfy chair.
A BIG FYI - I am headed out on a trip. No worries for those of you I am planning and those who are getting ready to travel. I am connected and you will still hear from me.
