This past Thursday, our Graceful Transitions team had the pleasure of attending the Elder Expo at Frederick Health Village!

We loved getting the chance to meet so many wonderful people, connect with local organizations, and share how Graceful Transitions can help seniors and their families navigate life’s big changes.

Our president, John, even had the opportunity to speak about the services we offer and how we help make moving, downsizing, and settling into a new home a little less overwhelming. 🏡

A big THANK YOU to the Frederick County Elder Services Provider Council and Frederick Health for putting together such a great event! We’re grateful to be part of a community that cares so much about supporting our seniors. 💜

✨ Team Member Tuesday! ✨

At Graceful Transitions, we know that it's the people behind the move who make all the difference. Every month, we're introducing you to one of the amazing team members who helps make each move a little less stressful and a lot more meaningful.

This week, meet Sophie Wright! 💙

Sophie is our Experience Coordinator and has been part of the Graceful Transitions family since July 2023! One of the things she loves most about her job is that no two days, or clients, are ever the same. She always knew she didn't want a job where she did the same thing every day, and she definitely found that here!

Her favorite part of helping clients move? Decorating and turning their new space into a place that truly feels like home. 🏡💙

Sophie's #1 moving tip is to organize as much as you can beforehand! Color coding, piles, sticky notes, lists, bags, whatever system works for you, as long as it's clear and obvious. (We have a feeling Sophie really appreciates a good label. 😂)

A few fun facts about Sophie:
📚 She spends weekends with friends! Including a book club with her high school friends and D&D with her college friends.
🗺️ If she could move anywhere in the world, she'd choose Greece for the history, warm weather, and easy access to travel.
⛸️ Her sports of choice are Olympic figure skating and speed skating.
🎬 Her favorite movies are Clue and The Mummy.
📺 Her favorite TV show is Criminal Minds.
🎵 Her music taste ranges from EDM to Folk.
🐶 She's definitely Team Dogs!
🛁 The most unusual thing she's helped move was an antique iron baby bathtub that the owner used as a plant stand!
🎨 And Sophie has a small collection of papyrus artwork, which actually got its start thanks to Graceful Transitions Auctions!

We're so grateful to have Sophie as part of the Graceful Transitions family. Her creativity, organization, and ability to make every client's new space feel like home are just a few of the things that make her such a special part of our team.

Out and about in the community!
Graceful Transitions had a great time at the Washington County CARES Senior Resource Fair on Friday at YMCA of Hagerstown! 💙
Events like this are such a great opportunity to connect with local seniors, families, caregivers, and other organizations that are all working toward the same goal, making life's transitions a little more graceful.
We loved chatting with everyone who stopped by our table, learning about other local resources, and sharing a little more about how Graceful Transitions can help with downsizing, moving, organizing, and everything in between. 🏡
Thank you to Washington County CARES, Inc. for putting together such a wonderful event and having us! We’re always happy to get out into the community and meet some new faces.

We have a new (very tiny) member of the Graceful Transitions family! 🩵👶

Congratulations to our wonderful Joy on the arrival of her sweet baby boy, Peter Joseph!

Peter made his grand entrance weighing 7 lbs. 3 oz. and measuring 20.3 inches long. 🥹

Mom and baby are doing well, and we couldn’t be happier for Joy and her family. Please help us welcome little Peter Joseph to the world! 🍼✨

Congratulations, Joy!! We are so excited for you! 💙

🍎 A little Saturday volunteering! 🍎

Yesterday, four of our Graceful Transitions crew, Maggie, John, Mickey & Sharyn, traded moving boxes for apples and spent the day volunteering at Maryland C***r Fest! 🍏🥂

We love getting out into the community, supporting local events, and having a little fun while we’re at it.

Thanks to the MD C***rfest crew for having us and a big shoutout to our GT team for giving their time!

This month, meet Michele Swearengen! 💙

Michele is a Move Associate and has been part of the Graceful Transitions family for an incredible 15 years! One of the things she enjoys most about her job is getting to work alongside her great coworkers.

Her favorite part of helping clients move? Seeing their faces when they walk into their new home and everything is all set up. 🏡💙 After 15 years, getting to be part of that moment still makes the job special!

A few fun facts about Michele:
👵 She loves spending her weekends with her grandkids and doing yard work.
🌴🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 If she could move anywhere, it's a toss-up between Hawaii and Scotland.
🏈 She's torn between the Cowboys and the Chiefs.
🎬 Her favorite movie is White Chicks.
🎵 When it comes to music, she listens to just about everything!
🐶🐱 She's Team Both when it comes to cats and dogs.
🥶 One thing Michele definitely doesn't love? Cold weather or winter!
🐱 And while she says it isn't that unusual, she's even transported clients' cats to their new homes before. That's what we call full-service! 😂

We're so grateful to have Michele as part of the Graceful Transitions family for the past 15 years. Her dedication to our clients and her love for her coworkers are part of what makes our team so special.
