Portable containers are a good deal right up until the morning it's sitting in your driveway and you realize you have to fill it yourself.
That's a job we do all day. You order the container from whoever you like.
We show up and load it — furniture first, weight low, everything braced so it doesn't shift when the truck picks it up. Same on the other end. Container arrives at the new place, we unload it and put things in the rooms they belong in.

Loading a container badly is how things get broken in transit, and it's the part nobody thinks about when they're comparing prices.

A move into senior housing is physically one of the smallest jobs we do and one of the heaviest days a family has.

It is usually a lifetime of things reduced to one room. There are decisions being made in the driveway. Somebody is trying to be cheerful and not quite managing it.

What we do differently: a smaller crew, a slower pace, and no clock pressure in the room while she decides which chair goes.

We work senior living communities across the Metroplex and we know the ones that want move-ins finished before dinner.

The most common thing that wrecks a move-in day in Fort Worth and Dallas has nothing to do with the movers.

It's the elevator.

Most mid-rise and high-rise buildings require you to reserve the service elevator, and a lot of them want notice ahead of time.

Some only allow moves in certain hours. Some charge a fee or want a deposit. If you show up without that reservation, you are carrying a couch up the stairs or rescheduling.

Two questions for your leasing office, today:
1. Do I need to reserve the service elevator, and for how long?
2. Where does the truck park?
Get those answers, then book the truck.

Avoid that little moving-day nightmare by packing ONE box or bin that stays with you and gets opened first.
