Faith. Family. Fellowship. For many seniors, these are the blessings they received each week for decades while diligently serving and worshipping at their home church. As mobility disorders progress, it can become nearly impossible for these dear seniors to make it to services regularly. While visitors by friends or a chaplin are appreciated, nothing can replace the experience of actually attending the house of worship where they were baptized, married, and often raised their family. Over and over again, Senior 365 has seen the tremendous health and emotional benefits of taking seniors back to church. Specialized transportation and skilled assistance really can restore freedom and joy to their lives!

Merry Christmas to all! Our seniors have been busy enjoying the mild weather. The "Get Out & Go!" program provided specialized transportation and skilled assistance allowing them to leave the facility and enjoy this special season with their families and loved ones. What a difference it makes in the lives of these seniors!

I scream, you scream...the seniors scream for ice cream! Ice cream has a well-deserved reputation as comfort food, but it's not really the treat itself that provided the most delight to these seniors. A trip out of the facility to get a cone means so much more than just a sweet treat. For Denver, it was a chance to share memories from his childhood. Richard enjoyed a special birthday date with his sweetheart. Marie soaked in the scenery during a "sundae" country drive. For these seniors, a taste of ice cream was actually a taste of hope.

For many people, family is part of our identity. For seniors, it's often their most cherished accomplishment...their legacy. Mobility limitations can cause a separation from family that is often devastating to the health of seniors in long term care facilities. The "Get Out & Go!" Program is dedicated to reuniting seniors with their families. Whether it be a joyous occasion such as meeting the new baby or a somber occasion such as bidding farewell to a loved one, the healing benefits of spending time with family are immediately noticeable as seniors reconnect.

These guys, Michael and Doug, used to be avid campers and outdoorsmen. However, in recent years, mobility disorders have made it impossible for them to care for themselves, let alone take a camping trip. On request by Doug, Senior 365 had the opportunity to host a campfire, complete with roasting sausages over the fire and fond reminiscing of past camping adventures. The warmth of the flames and the crackling of the embers were so relaxing and comforting for these men. An amazing evening under the stars!

Just before the leaves began changing, Doris enjoyed a beautiful afternoon identifying flowers and trees on a lovely stroll through the park. For seniors participating in Senior 365's "Get Out & Go!" program, immediate physical and cognitive benefits are experienced in addition to obvious improvements in mood. While we often have a good time, it's not just all for fun...it's for better health and a better quality of life!

Senior 365's "Get Out & Go!" program restores joy and hope to seniors in long-term care facilities. We love to take seniors out to reconnect with their loved ones, but sometimes the most important person they reconnect with is their younger self. Senior 365 recently made it possible for Doug (pictured in the first photo as a high school senior) to enjoy a show of classic and luxury automobiles.

The goal of Senior 365 is to restore freedom and mobility to seniors living in long-term care and to reconnect them with their family, friends, church and community outside the facility. Usually, Senior 365 destinations are fun, relaxed, and elective in nature. However, this week a special need arose and were pleased to step in and help. Doris needed transportation to a medical appointment. The weather was beautiful and as we traveled through her hometown of Fort Wayne, Doris delighted us with memory after memory of her life experiences as we passed landmarks that are still very dear to her. It turns out that Doris was baptized, married, and actively involved at the same church her entire life. We were so excited to tell her (and she was so excited to hear) how Senior 365 can take her back again! Her son met her at the appointment and we had the opportunity to tell him all about what we do too. What started out as a routine trip to the doctor, turned into an unexpectedly pleasant day out for us all!

Girls day out! BFFs Thelma and Susan were excited to "Get Out and Go!" These two ladies had a blast as they enjoyed lunch at Cracker Barrel and shopping at Walmart! Picking out new purses turned into a special surprise when Susan picked one out just for Thelma. Such sweet ladies making sweet memories!
