LONG TRIPS vs. SHORT TRIPS
The biggest shift from weekend to week-long travel is strategy—packing smart versus packing more. Here’s how to play it like a pro:
👜 Weekend Getaway (2–3 days)
Think: light, nimble, and fuss-free.
• Carry-on only – A small duffel or roller bag should do it.
• 2–3 versatile outfits – Mix and match tops/bottoms. Maybe 1 dressier option.
• 1 pair of shoes + comfy sandals/slides – Bonus points if they workday to night.
• Travel-sized toiletries – No need to bring the whole bathroom.
• Keep accessories minimal – One go-to necklace or scarf can transform an outfit.
• No “just in case” extras – Be ruthless and confident in your picks.
🧳 Week-Long Vacation (6–7 days)
Now we’re planning with layers, options, and comfort in mind.
• Medium checked bag or roomy carry-on – Depending on airline rules & space needs.
• Outfits for 4–5 days – Plan to re-wear or refresh with hotel laundry or rinse in a sink.
• At least 2 pairs of shoes – One for walking/touring, another for evenings or relaxing.
• More layering options – Weather can vary, so bring light sweaters/jackets.
• Extra accessories – Scarves, jewelry, or even hats to change up your look.
• More robust toiletries – Travel sizes still work but add any self-care extras you love.
And for either length of time, packing cubes are a game-changer for keeping things tidy and maximizing space.
