Good morning folks. I know we aren't active on this page very much but for those that follow us especially in the Maryland region, a Mesoscale Discussion has been issued for our region. There is an 80% chance of a tornado watch for much of Maryland. Please be very safe today and make sure to take any warnings very seriously.

The past 4 days have been quite hectic, with chases from northern Colorado, to eastern Kansas, to eastern Texas. As we finally have a short break, we will begin cataloging and posting the highlights of these few chases. Thank you for your patience and interest in what we do.

The MidAtlantic Tornado Hunters are happy to announce that we will be heading out to the Midwest from May 25th until June 15th. We look forward to the wonderment and beauty that the Plains is known for, and the storms too! Stay tuned, as we will be updating our page with information and photos of our adventures!

A severe storm moved southeasterly through the county, and we intercepted it on Bartholow Road, near Klee's Mill. Then, we darted for Liberty High School, where we filmed and captured the amazing structure and even some wispy funnels that thankfully did not develop into anything more.

An enhanced risk zone is present over the northern Maryland, southern PA area today. Storms are expected to strengthen in the Frederick County region and transit east southeast. As the primary threat is hail and wind, take precautions as such. However, there is a smaller area to the east of Carroll County, northward towards Philly, and east to the coast, which has been assigned a 5% risk zone for tornadoes. MATH will be chasing today.

A long chase day seemed to be highly disappointing as storm after storm kept falling apart and nothing seemed to be strong despite the extreme dynamics. The last storm we chased finally had access to clear skies to fuel its development. It quickly became severe warned and we intercepted it in Locust Grove Virginia in a shopping center along route 20. We had no idea that a tornado was on it until it unmasked itself from behind the trees giving us little time to react to the threat. Ultimately the tornado passed close to 100 yards from us causing severe damage in the area mainly to trees. 4/6/17

Since we are now just past the 1 year anniversary of the colossal blizzard that struck in late January 2016, I figured I would upload a short video I collected on the blizzard. With one of my friends, we went up to the graveyard at the top of my street in Sykesville. With a flat area, we could truly get a feel for how powerful this blizzard is. So we walked and stood in the middle of it. When people say how dangerous it truly is to be caught in the middle of one stranded, believe them. We quickly lost our energy trekking through the massive snow amounts. The strong winds were brutal and easily caused windburn on the exposed skin and frostbite would have settled quickly. (We didn't get caught with that). Also I became disoriented at one point losing track of where I was so it truly shows the power of this storm. We had roughly 25 inches at this point rapidly approaching the 30 inch mark.

Today the southern United States is going to make history and in all the wrong ways. In what will be the first time in my life the Storm Prediction Center has issued a Stage 5 High Risk Zone with a 30% hatched zone for tornadoes in January. This is the worst it can get. This is a very real day where EF-4 and 5 tornadoes will likely occur. This could be one of the worst outbreaks in January history. I cannot stress enough that if you have friends or family, they need to be aware of this situation and do everything they can to protect their lives. This is what I fear and it almost will certainly break my heart as it already has. So far at least 15 people have been killed and the worst has yet to happen. Please spread this message around in an attempt to get people down there to understand the magnitude of what will happen. This is history in the making and people NEED to be aware of it

A second exceedingly rare 15% tornado zone has been issued for Sunday in the southeast for the potential for absolutely violent tornadoes this time centered in Georgia. Same as before, this is extremely life threatening so warn anyone you know in the enhanced and moderate risk zones especially.

The National Weather Service has issued a Stage 4 risk zone and has added a second stage 4 moderate risk zone this time for an exceedingly rare 15% tornado zone. This is incredibly rare per January standards and very rare on a normal basis. A extremely dangerous and large tornado outbreak is likely with several large and potentially destructive long track tornadoes. If anyone knows anybody that lives in the stage 3 and 4 zones, they need to be aware and seek shelter if warnings are issued. These are the type of outbreaks that can kill so please warn as many people as possible. Several deaths have already occurred in Hattiesburg Mississippi this morning and that trend could potentially continue later this evening.

Day 3 in a row where violent storms impacted our very home. The stuff the day prior didn't yield too much so will refrain from putting anything up on it for now. Today a line of storms fired in western Maryland along an impulse and gradually intensified as it moved into a hot and humid environment. This produced a severe thunderstorm near Eldersburg, produced a second strong cell passing through there, and produced a third weaker cell that also passed through there. Along the way got several cloud to ground strikes on camera. Not nearly as beautiful as 2 nights prior, but still awesome nonetheless!

On August 14th, 2016 a severe thunderstorm developed over western Montgomery County. This storm entered a zone of intense heat, instability and enough shear to cause it to go supercellular. We bolted and managed to position in Catonsville between it and another strong cell just to the north and waited out the rain and hail. Then we shifted to a parking lot with a clear view and filmed the absolutely incredible lightning show. Managed to get some of the best lightning shots I have ever pulled the trigger on.
