2026 NY-NJ FIFA World Cup Hub NJ/NY guide to 2026 World Cup at MetLife. Watch parties, fan zones, transit & local tips.

⚽ Just came across something I hadn't seen many people talking about...

The Intrepid Museum is hosting FREE World Cup watch parties on Pier 86 in Manhattan throughout the tournament.
They're planning to show more than 50 matches on giant screens overlooking the Hudson, including USA vs. Paraguay, Brazil vs. Morocco, Germany vs. Curaçao, Netherlands vs. Japan, and many knockout round matches. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

This is quickly becoming one of the more interesting viewing options in NYC.

Have any of you been to events at the Intrepid before? Would you choose this over a sports bar?

😖How FIFA just grew local frustration.

NYC just announced $50 World Cup tickets for city residents with a free bus to the stadium included. Good for them. Really. (Details for NYC residents below.)
But what about the people in East Rutherford, Rutherford, Secaucus, Carlstadt, Moonachie, and Lyndhurst who are about to spend a month dealing with traffic, road closures, transit congestion, and noise for a tournament being played in their backyard.
NYC residents get subsidized tickets and a free ride. What do the host towns get?
Should there be a local resident program for the communities surrounding the stadium? Or is hosting the World Cup supposed to be reward enough? 😅
Drop it in the comments. Details for NYC residents below. And if you want more local updates like this, join our group — link in the comments too. 👇

NYC RESIDENTS — HERE'S HOW TO ENTER
1,000 tickets at $50 each. Free round-trip bus included. Lottery opened this morning.
Open to NYC residents 15 and older. Residency verified. Enter once per day through May 30. Daily cap is 50,000 entries — if it fills, come back at 10am the next day. Winners notified June 3. Each winner can buy up to two tickets. Covers seven MetLife matches, not the Final. Upper bowl seats. Non-transferable, handed out at the bus on game day.

Introducing the 2026 NY-NJ FIFA World Cup Hub Watch Party Tracker!

I put together a free World Cup watch party tracker for the NY/NJ area — every event and location I've had time to add so far, all in one place.

📍 Outdoor fan festivals
📍 Sports bars
📍 Beer gardens
📍 Stadium events
📍 Indoor events

Filterable by date, location, venue type, and whether reservations are needed. Whether you're planning around a specific match or just want to find something close to home, it's in there.

There is a lot of ground to cover and I don't have every detail filled in yet. This is a living document and I'll be updating it regularly as more information comes in.

As more watch parties get announced between now and July, I'll keep adding them. And if you know of something I missed — a bar, a backyard event, a town festival — drop it in the comments and I'll add it to the next update.

I hope this resource is helpful as you plan your World Cup experience. 🙏

Link to the tracker in the comments. 👇

If you find it useful, there's a "buy me a coffee" link inside the sheet. Completely optional, always appreciated. ☕

⚽ The World Cup Final at MetLife is getting a halftime show — and the announcement alone is worth talking about.

FIFA had Chris Martin reveal the lineup in a video alongside Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Animal from the Muppets. Cookie Monster suggested BTS. Animal's contribution was "Animal want Shakira."

The actual lineup: Madonna. Shakira. BTS.

First halftime show in World Cup history, right here at MetLife on July 19. And apparently it's being curated by the lead singer of Coldplay and a group of Muppets.

Soccer purists are losing it. Others are fully here for it. Both reactions make sense.
What do you think — drop it in the comments.

🚨 NJ Transit Update: World Cup Train Fares Just Dropped
The $150 round-trip ticket to MetLife got a lot of pushback — and it worked. A sponsor was secured, bringing the price down from $150 to $105.
Still steep when you consider the same 18-mile trip normally costs $12.90, but it's a 30% cut from where it started. PATH will also cross-honor tickets and add service on match days.

🚨 MetLife World Cup Transport Plan — What They're NOT Saying Out Loud
This is the real situation right now. No fluff.

🚂 Train (Penn Station to MetLife)
$150 round trip. Same 15-minute ride that normally costs $12.90.
Only ~40,000 seats per match for an 80,000-person stadium. Non-transferable. App-only.
👉 If you don't grab this early, you're not getting it.

🚌 Bus (Port Authority + NJ Park & Ride)
$80 round trip. Already being positioned as the fallback.
👉 Once trains sell out, this becomes the main option.

🚗 Rideshare (Uber/Lyft)
Drop-offs pushed to the Racetrack, not the stadium. Surge pricing is guaranteed. Post-game waits will be long, crowded, and expensive.
👉 Have a backup plan before you open the app.

🅿️ Driving
Extremely limited parking. Premium pricing ($200+). American Dream helps but doesn't solve it.
👉 If you're driving, your plan needs to exist before you leave the house.

🚶 Walking
Roads around the stadium are locked down by NJ State Police.
👉 Not a loophole. Not happening.
