Welcome to the DIEHLUX Team as Environmental Scientist II, Chelsea Rockcastle!

Chelsea has extensive professional experience in environmental education, research, and consulting. Chelsea formerly served as an Adjunct Instructor & Conservation Outreach Educator at Finger Lakes Community College Mueller Field Station. Prior to that, she worked for several academic, non-profit, and private consulting firms as a Field Technician specializing in restoration, waterfowl, and fisheries.

Chelsea received her Associate in Applied Science in Environmental Studies from Finger Lakes Community College in 2012, her Bachelor of Technology in Wildlife Management from SUNY Cobleskill in 2015, and her Master of Science in Sustainable Natural Resource Management from Unity College in 2019. During her higher education, Chelsea was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, received a Merrill Family Foundation Scholarship & Excellence in Student Leadership Award, and achieved Dean's List for seven semesters.

DIEHLUX was asked to speak at the Geographic Information Sharing Special Interest Group (GIS/SIG) Rochester – Genesee Finger Lakes Region 2025 Conference on the NYSDEC Article 24 Freshwater Wetland Regulation updates. Our Ecological Project Manager, Sean McGinn, and Environmental Scientist II, Gillian Smith, did a fantastic job explaining the updates and the implications on proposed, existing, and pending land development projects.

GIS/SIG provides a professional forum in the Rochester – Genesee Finger Lakes region for Geographical Information Systems (GIS) technology education, data sharing, communication and networking with other local, state and national users, dissemination of information about trends and policies related to GIS, and technology advancement. A special thank you to their staff for the invitation and hospitality!

As a premier ecological and wetlands consultant in New York, DIEHLUX is proud to announce that we have been asked to speak at two local professional development opportunities regarding the recently amended NYS DEC Article 24 Wetland Regulations that went into effect on January 1st, 2025. DIEHLUX’s Ecological Project Manager, Sean McGinn, and Environmental Scientist II, Gillian Smith, will present at a "Lunch and Learn" hosted by MRB Group’s corporate office in Rochester, NY, at the end of February. MRB Group is an engineering, architecture, and municipal planning company that specializes in supporting local governments across NY.

Additionally, DIEHLUX has been asked to present an overview of revised Article 24 regulations at the 2025 Geographic Information Sharing Special Interest Group (GIS/SIG) Convention at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Inn & Conference Center in April. GIS/SIG is an educational user’s group whose primary mission is to foster the understanding of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) technology in the Rochester – Genesee Finger Lakes region for GIS education, data sharing, communication and networking with other local, State, and national users, dissemination of information about trends and policies related to GIS, and technology advancement.

DIEHLUX is honored to share our expertise and knowledge. We look forward to providing an in-depth Article 24 regulatory update, including candid discussions regarding potential implications the revised wetland regulations may have for on-going and upcoming projects.

We had a great time connecting with our peers in the environmental sector and catching up with former major project team members.
