🚶♀️🚲 ACTION NEEDED TODAY: Support the Mount Vernon Path
Today, August 17, is the last day to provide feedback on Phase 3 of the Mount Vernon Path, connecting Vermack Road to Dunwoody Village.
Mount Vernon is the spine of Dunwoody’s emerging path network. Today, portions of this corridor have little more than a 4-foot sidewalk—sometimes narrowed by vegetation and often with little or no buffer from traffic.
Yet people are already out there every day: walking, running, pushing strollers, walking dogs, using wheelchairs and riding bikes.
The proposed side path would be a significant improvement over today’s conditions. Think of it as a double-wide sidewalk with a landscaped buffer of grass and trees between you and the cars.
👍 We need supporters to make their voices heard TODAY.
Tell the City you support Phase 3—and put it in your own words. Bike Walk Dunwoody also encourages the City to:
• Keep the path flat and level across driveways, with vehicles traveling up and over the path rather than path users dropping down at every driveway.
• Use automatic detection at signalized intersections so people walking and biking don’t have to push a button to request a crossing signal.
• Build Phase 3 concurrently with Phase 2, creating a seamless path connection from Jett Ferry Road all the way to Dunwoody Village.
• Remove the right-turn/deceleration lane at St. Luke’s and use that space for the path and landscaped buffer. Dunwoody is already proposing to remove an existing right-turn lane elsewhere as part of improvements along this corridor.
The deadline is TODAY, August 17. It only takes a few minutes.
