Bike Walk Dunwoody

Bike Walk Dunwoody We hope you’ll join us! From Safe Routes to School, to going out for an errand, meeting friends, heading to a park, getting to work.

Bike Walk Dunwoody is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to making it safer, easier, and more attractive to walk & bike for fun, fitness, and transportation. We're all about working with 8 year olds to 80 year olds in being able to safely bike or walk a couple of miles in getting around our hometown. It's all about family friendly options, choice and a safe and welcoming community.

Dunwoody parents: Doesn’t this scene look absolutely amazing? If you’d like to start this with your own children and your child’s school, there are plenty of resources to help you out.

Hats off to Alpharetta for continued investments in their multiuse path network!

🚶‍♀️🚲 ACTION NEEDED TODAY: Support the Mount Vernon Path

Today, August 17, is the last day to provide feedback on Phase 3 of the Mount Vernon Path, connecting Vermack Road to Dunwoody Village.

Mount Vernon is the spine of Dunwoody’s emerging path network. Today, portions of this corridor have little more than a 4-foot sidewalk—sometimes narrowed by vegetation and often with little or no buffer from traffic.

Yet people are already out there every day: walking, running, pushing strollers, walking dogs, using wheelchairs and riding bikes.

The proposed side path would be a significant improvement over today’s conditions. Think of it as a double-wide sidewalk with a landscaped buffer of grass and trees between you and the cars.

👍 We need supporters to make their voices heard TODAY.

Tell the City you support Phase 3—and put it in your own words. Bike Walk Dunwoody also encourages the City to:

• Keep the path flat and level across driveways, with vehicles traveling up and over the path rather than path users dropping down at every driveway.

• Use automatic detection at signalized intersections so people walking and biking don’t have to push a button to request a crossing signal.

• Build Phase 3 concurrently with Phase 2, creating a seamless path connection from Jett Ferry Road all the way to Dunwoody Village.

• Remove the right-turn/deceleration lane at St. Luke’s and use that space for the path and landscaped buffer. Dunwoody is already proposing to remove an existing right-turn lane elsewhere as part of improvements along this corridor.

The deadline is TODAY, August 17. It only takes a few minutes.

Dunwoody wants your feedback on the concept design for Mt. Vernon Path Phase 3, a proposed shared-use path along the north side of Mt. Vernon Road from Vermack Road to Dunwoody Village Parkway.

This project would complete a key connection along Mt. Vernon Road from Jett Ferry Road to Dunwoody Village Parkway, improving walking and biking access between neighborhoods and Dunwoody Village.

Review the concept layout and share your input by Monday, August 17: https://dunwoodyga.gov/mtvernonpath3
