August’s First Saturdays Citywide Cleanup and Compost Site will take place on Saturday, August 1, from 10 AM - 2 PM. (Curbside yard waste pickup for Ward 1 will begin on the first Monday of the month, August 3.)

Bring what you can't put at the curb: Furniture, toys, mattresses, building materials, and most household junk. The compost site is open the same hours for leaves, grass, brush, and branches.

📍 Corner of Middle Crossing and Blue Bird, across from the Dowagiac Municipal Airport runway.

A few quick reminders:

✅ This is for Dowagiac city residents. Have your ID, utility bill, or lease ready

✅ One truck or trailer per address, per day

✅ Dumpsters will close for the day when full

✅ Self-serve. Keep items manageable in size

It’s Summer Festival day! Come see us in Downtown Dowagiac today, 7/18, so the kids can play in the sandbox. 🏖️ 🪏🛻 Lots of free family fun today in our beautiful hometown.

Thank you to the generous resident at today’s city cleanup event, who tipped our junior workers, and gave instructions to get ice cream when they were done working. 🍦 Our crew was happy to visit Slope Frozen Treats for milkshakes after today’s hard work! 💪 ♻️

Due to the 4th of July holiday, this month's First Saturdays Citywide Cleanup and Compost Site will actually take place on the second Saturday — July 11 — from 10 AM - 2 PM. (Curbside yard waste pickup for Ward 1 will begin as scheduled on the first Monday of the month, July 6.)

Do you live outside of the Dowagiac city limits, and cannot take advantage of the monthly cleanup days this summer?
If you're in LaGrange Township - your cleanup event is August 29 & 30. LaGrange Township Cleanup Days
If you're in Wayne Township - your cleanup event is September 12th. Wayne Township Cleanup Day
Other municipalities may host similar events or provide landfill passes, but if your township or village doesn't do that, suggest they give us a call to discuss our Municipal Cleanup Event options!
