Honestly, how could I ever stop talking about something so important?

That is exactly why I want to get even more people talking about what it means to lead like an ally. I believe in this work so much, I ended up starting a whole podcast about it. 🤝🏾

It is called Not Like Me, and if you are serious about leading and working alongside people who are not like you, go check it out wherever you get your podcasts. 🎙️

Forty years later, I still remember the sentence.

A busy Thanksgiving weekend. A canceled flight. A cracked windshield caused by a female captain preparing the aircraft. While rebooking 125 frustrated passengers, my supervisor looked at me and said:

“That’s why you women belong in the kitchen.”

That moment has never left me.

Not because it was the first biased comment I had heard in a male-dominated industry. Believe me, it was not the first and definitely not the last. But because every time a woman is diminished, dismissed, or reduced to a stereotype, it sends a message far beyond one person.

Leadership is not just about what you build. It is about what you refuse to tolerate.

Change happens when we stop normalizing disrespect and start creating workplaces where people are valued for their capability, not judged by gender.

Real leadership is not comfortable.

When men choose to stand up for women, there is often a cost. You may lose your “bro code” status. You may get mocked. You may become the lonely only voice in the room.

But leadership was never about staying comfortable. It is about being willing to take the hits that come with growth and change.

If you want to lead at the next level, you have to be built for the hard conversations, the resistance, and the moments when doing the right thing costs you something.

That is what leadership looks like in today’s workplace.

Let’s talk about it!🗣️

Tomorrow, my solo episode of Not Like Me drops where I debrief and expand on the conversation from the “Men as Allies?” episode with Dr. Brad Johnson. 🎙️

In this episode, I am breaking down the biggest takeaways, sharing my perspective, and expanding on some stories from my own life experience, when it comes to men as allies.

PSA: People know when you’re showing up authentically… and when you’re performing.

Marginalized groups often develop a heightened awareness for performative behavior because they’ve had to navigate it their entire lives.

The truth? We spot it almost immediately.🫣

Try entering the conversation with honesty, humility, and a willingness to listen. Then, watch how trust builds and connection grows. 🤝🏾

Remember: Performative support helps no one. Real impact starts with genuine action, not appearances.

We are getting real on Not Like Me!

I sat down with Dr. Brad Johnson to talk about something affecting workplaces every single day: the “wimp penalty.”

Too many men stay quiet when a woman’s idea deserves support because they are afraid of losing status with other men or looking weak in the room.

But silence has consequences.

Strong leadership is not about protecting your image. It is about having the courage to support great ideas no matter who they come from.

This conversation is real, honest, and long overdue.

Not Like Me is out now on all streaming platforms! 🎙️

After years of traveling the world speaking, one of the greatest gifts has been the conversations happening behind the scenes. The green room conversations. The after-event conversations. The deep discussions with some of the world’s leading thinkers about leadership, communication, growth, business, neuroscience, and life.

And honestly… they have been too powerful to keep private.

So I decided to start a podcast.

Not Like Me is for leaders, professionals, and growth-minded people who want to better understand how to lead, communicate, connect, and succeed in a world filled with people who think differently, lead differently, and see the world differently.

I will be sitting down with friends and experts who are doing incredible work across industries, and together we are going to have real conversations that challenge perspectives, grow leadership capacity, and help all of us think at a higher level.

My hope is simple:
That these conversations bless you the same way they have blessed me.

The first episode is out now on all major podcast platforms.

I cannot wait for you to hear it!

The Not Like Me podcast was created to bring you into the kinds of high-level conversations that usually happen behind closed doors. The conversations that challenge how we lead, how we communicate, and how we connect with people who are not like us.

In this first episode, I sit down with Dr. Brad Johnson for a powerful conversation about male allyship to women.

This episode is a real dialogue about what it actually looks like for men to advocate for, support, and elevate women in leadership and in the workplace.

Shout out to my good friend Dr. Brad Johnson for bringing honesty, perspective, and wisdom to this conversation.

If you are serious about becoming a stronger communicator, a better leader, and a more intentional human being, this podcast is for you.

Not Like Me premieres tomorrow.

Too many talented women are working hard while being talked over or subjected to “mansplaining.” Real career growth happens when connection, communication, and true allyship align.

This clip is from my brand-new podcast, Not Like Me, premiering this Wednesday with my first guest, Dr. Brad Johnson. We are having honest conversations about leadership, workplace dynamics, allyship, and what it looks like to show up as a male ally to women.

This week, try Dr. Johnson's suggestions:

1. Make “contextualized asks” of power holders. Get on their calendar, ask questions, align. One great conversation often leads to another.

2. “Pregame” your meetings. Talk with allies beforehand so they are ready to reinforce your ideas if you are interrupted, overlooked, or talked over.

The workplace is changing. Leaders need to change with it.

Episode One of “Not Like Me” drops Wednesday the 13th. And there could not be a better person to kick this off with than Dr. Brad Johnson.

Brad is not just a longtime friend. He is one of the most respected voices on leadership, human behavior, and men showing up as true allies in the workplace. As a clinical psychologist, author, speaker, and expert on male allyship, he brings both the science and the real-world perspective this conversation deserves.

If we are going to have an honest conversation about leadership, trust, communication, and what it actually means for men to support and elevate others in today’s workplace, then this is exactly where we needed to start.

This is not surface-level conversation. This is leadership work.

Join us on Wednesday the 13th for Episode One of Not Like Me.

And trust me… you are going to want to hear this one.
