What did local government in China actually look like centuries ago?

In my newest Why Visit China video, we explore Cicheng Ancient County Town near Ningbo — not just its old streets and architecture, but the places where people studied for examinations, officials worked, disputes were handled, and a county magistrate carried out the business of government.

Some of the most interesting details are easy to walk past unless you know what you’re looking at.
