⭐️⭐️BUS DRIVER SPOTLIGHT ⭐️⭐️

It’s not often that positive feedback is received. So when it is, we want to share it!

Shout out to SPED Bus #33, Stacy Smith Erwin. This is the second parent recognition she has received for going above and beyond for her special education students.

“She is super amazing. She goes above and beyond for my son and I. I could not have asked for a better Bus driver. She is one of a kind. She communicates well and we just love her. She does way more than she has to. I truly appreciate her and everything she does. She is truly a Hero and makes everything alot easier for us. Keep her around, i wish there were more kind souls like her! She deserves some recognition!”

Stacy is a veteran Special Education driver and can often be found driving the cheerleaders and other teams to games and events.

Thank you Stacy for all that you do for Kaufman ISD!

Transportation ended the year with our tummies full and our hearts fuller as we celebrated the accomplishments and successes of the 2025-2026 school year at our annual Year End Cook Out! 🌭🎉🏆

The goal is always to deliver our students safely, efficiently and promptly to and from school no matter the circumstances that are tossed our way and this year, WE DID IT! 🚌👍📚

While the drivers have a couple short months off to refuel, the office team and mechanics will be busy at work preparing for the upcoming school year!

How do you capture 26 years of driving multiple generations of Lions? Ms Stella was often the first to leave in the mornings and the last to come in. She treated every student as if they were her own. She not only knew where they lived, she knew their families. Her students and coworkers always knew where the stood. Ms Stella would tell it like it is with love in her heart! ♥️

Congratulations Stella Staulter on your retirement! No one deserves it more!

Today we celebrated the retirement of Bus #25, Thomas Earwood. Thomas has been with KISD Transportation for 10 years. Throughout the years, Thomas has been dependable and reliable, always willing to come in and help where needed. The break room (and parking lot) will never be the same without Thomas. We will miss his wit and candor! We wish you and Cathy all the best as you navigate through the next chapter of your lives together! Always remember… we’ve got a route open! 🚌

Due to the reduced number of riders expected to ride over the next couple days…please be prepared to receive your PK-2 students early off the bus!

If you are unable to meet your PK-2 student at the bus stop early, please make arrangements for them to be picked up at the school.

Thank you for your cooperation and assistance in ensuring all students make it home timely and safely.

Reminder that Thursday, May 21, 2026, will be an Early Release Day for the High School campus ONLY at 1:10 p.m.

Friday, May 22, 2026, will be an Early Release Day for ALL CAMPUSES. All buses will run 3 hours early

KISD is blessed to have some of the most kind hearted bus drivers in the area. Many decorate their buses to create a fun atmosphere to camouflage a seating chart or simply bring joy to the lives of our students who ride the bus from early dawn to late in the evening. 🖤

Bus #6 took engaging her students one step further by personally funding a “Summer Cash” point system that promotes kindness, respecting others and keeping the bus clean and safe! 😎

Although we knew the day was coming… it just came a little too quickly. As tears filled our eyes, Ms Stella Saulter hung up her keys for the last time.

Stella has been on the KISD Transportation team since 1999. There’s not a position she hasn’t filled. She’s worked as the shop secretary, bus driver trainer and driven both a General Ed and Special Ed bus.

The impact she has made on the lives of our children and her co-workers will last a life time! Today she talked about how she’s transported “babies” from Pre-K to Graduation. She was the first to say “‘morning” and the last to see them home for the most formable 12-13 years of their lives.

As a co-worker, we know her simply as “Granny.” You always know exactly what she’s thinking and where you stand. She is fierce but has the biggest heart! There wasn’t a school fundraiser she missed and often helped a co-worker in need.

She may not be behind the wheel of a big yellow bus but she will always be at the core of our Transportation family.

We love you Ms Stella and will be praying for Gerald as he adjusts to you being at home.

We’ll see you Friday at breakfast!

Today we wrapped up Transportation Appreciation Week with an ice cream sundae bar. 🍧

Throughout the week, our fearless leader, Christina Dillehay, gifted the team with Kaufman Lion hats, tshirts, travel blankets, door prizes, fun socks and more!

Special “shout out” to our campus partners for spoiling the team with bags of goodies and our vendors for providing breakfast during the week. We can’t forget the gourmet Rice Krispies, chocolate chip cookies and chocolate covered pretzels made Lindy Joan Seabolt! Everything was greatly appreciated by all!!! We really felt the love!

THANK YOU to every driver, monitor, trainer, router, mechanic and office staff for what you do EVERYDAY to transport our Lions safely. You are the first to greet our students in the morning and the last to see them at the end of the day. Your presence in thier life matters! 🖤
