U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Mobile Passport Control (MPC) app lets eligible travelers submit passport and travel information from a mobile device before presenting it to a CBP officer.

Before relying on it:

• Confirm that you are eligible
• Check whether your arrival airport or seaport participates
• Download the official CBP MPC app
• Keep your physical passport with you—the app does not replace it

You may hear experienced travelers use this phrase when discussing airfare.

A positioning flight is a separate flight used to reach another airport before beginning the main itinerary.
