You never know what you get when you set off in a new direction. So, our RV rig not fit for regular full-time life, we put it up for sale as a stationary home and are reconsidering future options near family in Florida. Well, we are definitely experiencing a new 'direction, wide open'. We and our motorcycles are now sitting in Panama City Beach, FL. Not where we expected to be one month ago. But we are happy exploring in our new location, and we have had our first new visitor at our front door (although it is not an RV door right now).

It's temporary, but you just gotta know the time in the middle of the night. (Not that we're to the "middle" yet...)

Thank you all so much for the incredible outpouring of kindness and support on our last post. Reading your comments and hearing from this amazing community has meant the world to us during a very difficult transition.

We wanted to answer a few common questions and provide some updates before we take our break:

Last Rig Photo: The photo in the last post was taken when we got it and took our first trip. We did have a lift on the back of the RV, but only for the very first year of our journey. Because the bolts kept coming loose in the lift, we removed it six years ago.

Grand Design's response: Other than a standard, "You are out of warranty", we have not received any response from Grand Design regarding our rig. However, we are very happy to hear that some owners have posted about getting their frame flex issues fixed. Because of our rig's age, it seems Grand Design is primarily fixing RVs that fall within the specific age range of current lawsuits.

Pursuing legal action: While we are incredibly upset to hear from so many others whose RV dreams have also been derailed by these same issues, we have decided not to pursue an attorney ourselves. At this stage in our lives, our peace of mind is worth more. We simply want to close this chapter, move forward, and focus on our next life experiences.

The rig's future: We have decided to sell the RV "as is" at a loss. While it is no longer safe for the open road, it is still a perfect fit for a landowner, a campground, or anyone looking to use it as a stationary rental or a permanent tiny home. We are so grateful to a friend in LaGrange, GA, who has generously offered to host our rig and show it to the next owner. We are so grateful for the shared memories and the bonds we've formed with so many of you. We are going to step away from social media now to focus on settling into our interim Florida home and processing this detour.

Seven years ago, we hit the road with a dream, a rig, and a plan to see every corner of this beautiful country. Two weeks ago, we were sitting in our RV, completely happy, planning out the next few years of full-time travel.

Today, our lives are completely upside down.

We took our rig in for what we thought was a routine road repair. Instead, we found out our RV is suffering from a catastrophic frame flex issue. What breaks our hearts the most is learning that our manufacturer, Grand Design, knew this was a known defect with our make and model. Yet, they chose silence over safety—offering no recalls, no warnings, and no notifications to owners. We could have addressed this under warranty, but now that we need them, Grand Design RV won’t even respond to our inquiries. So much for the "Customers for Life" and owner support they love to market.

Because of this, it is with incredibly heavy hearts that we are saying goodbye to our rig. We are settling into a temporary stationary home Florida while we sell our poor RV "as is" and figure out what the future looks like. We won't be posting much for a while as we navigate this unexpected detour and process the sudden end to this chapter. But before we step away, we want to say a massive thank you to all the incredible friends we’ve made along the way. You made these seven years unforgettable.

Welcome to the last Q&A for the summer! This next question was the only one we received, but we think it is quite relevant to the next stage of RV travel..."How do you see AI being part of an RVer's travel plans?"

We are deeply embedded in AI - Will is a senior AI developer, and Lucinda creates AI content for the travel industry. At this moment, we see AI as an active assistant. Here is how we use it in our RV plans:

- We feed our route into the AI along with our rig details and have it calculate optimal fuel stops and proper road access. We also have a diesel discount membership card, and that is part of the selection.
- We keep a list of unique types of events we like to participate in. At each new location, we enter this event list and find activities within a certain mile radius of us happening during our stay date range.
- We use AI to track our health on the road by creating and monitoring our own stats. AI created an 'app' for us based on our criteria, and our smart trackers communicate with the app to run the reports we request.
- We use AI for shopping. We find local ingredients in the area, nearby farmers markets, and recipes the area is known for. This keeps our shopping local, fresh, and always changing.

If you create prompts for each of these activities, all you need to do is plug the request into the AI each time with the new data and tweak it as you go. You will always have a personal assistant gathering relevant information for your travels.

Currently, you should verify all AI-provided information. We did have it 'make up' a gas station stop because there wasn't one where it thought we needed one. The station didn't even exist!

RV thought of the moment..."We don't want to manage a photo or video collection of what an RVer (traveler) will see. We want to share an environment where the traveler can encounter meaning. RV travel should be more about what you can leave behind (like stress) and what we can participate in that's authentic when we arrive."
