Musky Clubbers:

The Peshtigo Flowages Musky Club Dinner will be on Saturday, April 5, Hilltop Resort and Super Club, cocktails at 5PM, dinner at 6PM. As in the past, each member and guest will be given two drink tickets, dinner is included as part of membership. Please contact me as soon as possible if you are planning on attending and if you’re bringing a guest, so I can give an accurate count to Hilltop Hoodsop.

As noted in the last letter, last year’s outings were not well attended with just a few members showing for the picnic at Tom and Sheri Pfeffer’s. There has been discussion about disbanding the Club, that it’s run its course so to speak. The officers are looking for ideas to either increase membership and participation, or what to do with the treasury if the Club ceases to exist. To date, the only suggestions assuming the club is disbanded, is to donate the remaining treasury to a charity, the DNR, or distribute to 2013 dues paying members. Additionally, neither Kevin, Tom or myself are interested in serving another year as officers, so if we continue, someone will have to step forward.

Since the future of the Club is in question, we’ll hold off on collecting dues for 2014. And since the raffle is the usual fund raiser, the officers have suggested that we do away with the raffle this year. Therefore, please do not bring anything for a raffle. If you haven’t provided me your entry into the 2013 Big Fish award, please do so prior to the dinner.

See you on the 5th!

Annual dinner April 4th, Hilltop.

Don't forget to enter your flowage musky in the annual big fish award.

The last outing of year, September 6-8, produced 3 muskies…Ron DeBruin led the effort with a 42.5” from Caldron, John Thompson – 41.5” from High Falls and Bill Jensen – 38.75” also from High Falls. Bill used a bucktail; I either forgot or wasn’t informed about the other two. Ron DeBruin scored the most inches award and also took the Big Fish pot. 10 members participated in the outing. I’ll put the pictures on our FaceBook page.

The group was informed that walleyes will be planted in the flowages, help is needed. [Since the outing, walleye and musky have been planted in Caldron. Walleyes were planted September 18th in High Falls. We’ve also been told that 2400+ muskies will be planted in Noquebay as part of a multi-year study, currently scheduled for September 25th.]

The members present decided on only two outings in 2014, late June and early September. Outing dates will be set at the annual dinner in April.

The annual Spring banquet is scheduled for April 5, 2014. Please e-mail information on your big fish for the 2013 award. Also, please include a picture if available. So far, Ron is leading with his 42.5”. I’ve attached the form we used for the outings; please use that as your guide. I’d like to have all entries long before our April 5 dinner.

See you on the water (or at the musky shows).

Nick

The July outing was a bust. Hot water considered the culprit. Probably best if no more outings in July are scheduled. Next, and last for 2014, is September 6-8. Meet Sunday noon at Caldron Bar for lunch, disstribution of awards and meeting.
